Sierra EV Launch and Production
The upcoming Tata Sierra EV aims to build on the popularity of the internal combustion engine (ICE) Sierra. Bookings for the ICE Sierra have surpassed one lakh units, reflecting strong demand. Vivek Srivatsa, Chief Commercial Officer at Tata Motors, confirmed that the Sierra EV will be manufactured at the Sanand plant. While Tata has not announced an exact launch date, the company targets a release in the second quarter of 2026.
Visually, the Sierra EV will closely resemble its ICE counterpart. However, it will feature EV-specific elements, such as a closed-off grille and possible changes in front and rear detailing. The design will focus on a refined appearance, though major changes are not expected. Tata may offer exclusive color options for the Sierra EV, but this remains unconfirmed.
Features and Technical Specifications

The Sierra EV will share several interior components with the ICE Sierra. It is likely to include a three-screen setup, featuring dual 12.3-inch displays and a 10.25-inch instrument cluster. Expected features include ventilated front seats, a powered driver seat, a panoramic sunroof, a premium audio system with Dolby, and multiple drive modes.
Like other Tata electric vehicles, the Sierra EV is expected to support Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging. In Tata's lineup, the Sierra EV will be positioned below the Harrier EV.
The Sierra EV may use the 65-kWh battery pack found in the Harrier EV, offering both rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) options. The estimated range is between 500 and 550 kilometers with this battery pack. DC fast charging capability of up to 120 kW is also anticipated.
Tata may equip the Sierra EV with an integrated drive unit, a technology already used in the Punch EV. This unit combines key components, including the motor, into a single housing. The approach improves space efficiency and can help reduce production costs, potentially allowing Tata to offer the Sierra EV at a competitive price.

EV-based SUV promises 450+ km range, AWD prowess, and premium features to dominate the mid-size EV segment.
