Tesla Model Y Base variant gets Rs 9 lakh price cut, top variant discontinued
Tesla reshuffles its Model Y lineup with a major Rs 9 lakh price cut on the base variant and discontinues the top variant, making the EV more accessible.

Tesla has reduced the price of the Model Y base Premium RWD variant by Rs. 9 lakh. The new ex-showroom price is now Rs. 50.89 lakh. This move makes the entry-level Model Y more accessible in the electric SUV segment, which is facing growing competition in India.
Key Highlights
- Tesla Model Y base Premium RWD price reduced by Rs 9 lakh
- Top-spec Premium Long Range RWD variant discontinued from the lineup
- Model Y now available in only two variants with Rs 11.10 lakh price gap
Model Y Lineup Changes

The company has discontinued the top-spec premium long-range RWD variant. This variant was previously available at Rs. 67.89 lakh, ex-showroom. Tesla has not announced a direct replacement for this variant. As a result, the Model Y lineup now consists of only two variants.
The recently launched Model Y L Premium remains unchanged. It continues to be priced at Rs. 61.99 lakh, ex-showroom. This variant features an 88 kWh battery pack and a dual-motor all-wheel drive system. Tesla claims a range of 681 km for this model.
Variant Features and Pricing

The Model Y L Premium offers a 2+2+2 seating configuration. It includes a 16-inch touchscreen infotainment system, heated and cooled seats for both front and second rows, dual wireless charging pads, and a glass roof. These features position it as a premium option in the lineup.
With the Premium Long Range RWD discontinued, the Model Y now has only the Premium RWD and L Premium AWD variants. The base Premium RWD is priced at Rs. 50.89 lakh, while the L Premium AWD costs Rs. 61.99 lakh. The price gap between the two variants stands at Rs. 11.10 lakh.
Buyers seeking a Model Y now have to choose between the more affordable base variant and the higher-priced L Premium AWD. There is no longer a mid-range option available in the current lineup.
