Tesla Cars in India

Tesla is the world's most iconic electric vehicle brand, synonymous with zero-emission performance, cutting-edge autonomous technology, and a future-forward ownership experience that is unlike anything the conventional automotive world has to offer. Founded by Elon Musk and headquartered in Austin, Texas, Tesla has fundamentally redefined what an electric car can be — and in July 2025, it finally brought that revolution to India. Tesla officially entered the Indian market in July 2025 with the launch of the Model Y and the opening of its first showroom in Mumbai, marking one of the most anticipated automotive debuts the country has ever witnessed.

Tesla operates in India on a direct-to-consumer sales model, doing away with traditional dealerships entirely. Customers can configure, book, and purchase their Tesla online or visit one of the brand's Experience Centres in person. With showrooms in Mumbai's Bandra Kurla Complex and Delhi's Aerocity, Tesla is targeting India's most affluent and progressive urban buyers. The brand has since taken its retail presence a step further, opening its first all-in-one Tesla Centre in Gurugram — a single facility that combines an experience centre, after-sales service, vehicle delivery, and a Supercharging station under one roof.

Currently, the Tesla Model Y is the brand's flagship offering in India, available in two variants — Standard Range RWD and Long Range RWD. The base variant accelerates from 0 to 100 kph in 5.9 seconds and delivers a WLTP-certified range of 500 km, while the Long Range RWD cuts the sprint time to 5.6 seconds and extends the range to 622 km on a single charge. With more models on the horizon, the Tesla Model 3 is expected to be introduced in India in 2026, with the flagship Model S and Model X also anticipated to follow as the brand deepens its commitment to the market.
One area where Tesla stands in a league of its own is its proprietary Supercharger network — widely regarded as the gold standard in EV fast-charging globally. Tesla currently operates three Supercharger locations across India — in Mumbai (One BKC), New Delhi (Worldmark, Aerocity), and Gurugram (DLF Horizon Centre) — with a combined total of 12 V4 Superchargers and 10 Destination Chargers. Using a Supercharger, a Model Y can gain up to 275 km of driving range in just 15 minutes, making long-distance electric travel a genuinely practical proposition. Tesla has confirmed further expansion of the Supercharger network to Bengaluru and other key metros, progressively building out the charging infrastructure needed for a truly nationwide EV ownership experience.

Beyond the hardware, every Tesla is a software-driven machine that continues to improve after purchase through over-the-air (OTA) updates — a feature unique to the brand that ensures your car gets smarter, faster, and safer over time without a workshop visit. The cabins are minimalist yet premium, anchored by a large landscape touchscreen that controls virtually every function of the vehicle. Tesla also offers its Full Self-Driving (FSD) capability as an optional purchase on the Model Y in India, with supervised autonomous features to be unlocked through future software updates pending regulatory clearance.

Tesla’s pricing starts at ₹50.89 Lakh for its most affordable model, the Tesla Model Y. On the premium end, prices go up to ₹50.89 Lakh for the Tesla Model Y, Tesla’s flagship offering. In between, popular models like the Tesla Model Y start from ₹50.89 Lakh.

On the horizon, Tesla is set to introduce 4 cars — Tesla Model 3, Tesla Model X, Tesla Model S — further strengthening its presence in the Indian market.
