Tesla’s Mumbai Showroom Debut: What Can India Expect from the EV Giant’s Grand Opening on July 15, 2025?
Tesla is set to open its first Mumbai showroom on July 15, 2025, at Bandra Kurla Complex. This launch marks a significant milestone for India’s EV market, offering premium Tesla models and a new era of sustainable mobility for urban consumers.

The Indian automotive market is set to undergo a major transformation with the imminent entry of American EV pioneer Tesla. Elon Musk’s Tesla is officially scheduled to open its first showroom in Mumbai on July 15, 2025. The brand has already introduced its new teaser on the social media X account, giving a long-awaited update to Indian fans about the upcoming Tesla EVs in the country.
The new showroom in Mumbai has a sprawling 4,000-square-foot facility at Maker Maxity Mall that will not only showcase Tesla’s enhanced technology but also serve as a hub for sales, service, and customer engagement. The American EV giant has had all its eyes on the Indian market for a long time, but now it appears to have a stepping stone to an effort for a global launch.
Tesla’s New Mumbai Showroom: Details and Significance
Tesla’s first showroom in Mumbai is situated in BKC, one of India’s most prominent commercial districts. This location will play an important role in establishing brand positioning and ambition to consumers. The showroom will also serve as a part of the real estate portfolio that also contributes to the services and automation facilities situated at Lodha Logistic Park in Sakinaka.
As a part of a global launch, the event will be one and a half hours long, and the opening of the showroom will adhere to the recent issuance of a trade certificate by the Andheri Regional Transport Office (RTO). This governing body will run a test on Tesla’s EV test drives and initiate sales and registration processes.
General public access is likely to be allowed after the week as the event continues.

What to Expect: Models, Pricing, and Future Plans

During the launch event “Tesla Experience Mall,” the Mumbai showroom is expected to feature the Tesla Model Y and Model 3 cars. Both of these models have global acclaim for their performance, safety, and advanced technology. As there are no manufacturing operations in India, the Indian government is taking a keen interest in making ways so that Tels can start their pre-production units of EVs in India itself.
All models, i.e., Model Y and Model 3, might be imported from Tesla’s Shanghai facility. As per the reports, the prices of these cars have not been revealed by the company. However, the Model Y is expected to be priced at Rs. 27.7 lakh, taking into account India's 70% import tariff. Tesla’s entry into India has been years in the making, and it has been in talks with government authorities over import duties and local manufacturing requirements.
For the 2025 season, the company has decided that the sales of new car deliveries might start in late August of this year. Meanwhile, the company is currently focusing on retail and service operations in India.
Conclusion
The arrival of Tesla in Mumbai is not just the debut of a new showroom; it’s the beginning of a new automotive experience journey for India’s EV ecosystem. Tesla, being the global leader in the EV world, has already captured the streets of American hospitality, and now, with robust infrastructure and a commitment to innovation, Tesla is set to make an indelible mark on the Indian automotive EV market. It will be good to watch how it gives competition to its rival, BYD, as they are slowly capturing the Indian automotive landscape.
