The latest generation of the Mercedes-Benz GLB is ready to make a significant impact in India, blending a unique mix of rugged charm and sophisticated luxury. Officially launched globally in December 2025, this redesigned compact SUV stands out with its signature boxy silhouette, enhanced space, and ultra-modern technology. Indian buyers can expect petrol and diesel variants imported as completely built units.
Growing in dimensions but retaining its unmistakable character, the new GLB promises increased cabin space and refined features. With bold design elements like connected LED tail lamps featuring the iconic three-pointed star emblem and an advanced MB. Positioned uniquely in India against limited rivals, the GLB aims to attract discerning customers who want luxury and practicality seamlessly combined.

The 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLB adopts a more commanding road presence, measuring larger overall to deliver additional cabin room without compromising its compact SUV practicality. Its front end parallels the new CLA with a wider grille framed by connected LED headlamps that house illuminated three-pointed stars. The side profile reveals a lengthened body with an extended wheelbase to enhance rear-seat legroom and comfort.
At the back, the GLB features inverted U-shaped connected LED tail lamps with the Mercedes star integrated into the cluster, offering a distinctive nighttime signature and a premium aesthetic. The large rear windscreen and thick D-pillar remain, preserving the GLB’s characteristic silhouette that balances modern styling with boxy functionality.

While sitting inside the car, the GLB borrows heavily from the all-new CLA’s interior ethos, presenting a luxurious yet functional environment. It boasts an elevated driving position characteristic of SUVs, with three large digital displays seamlessly integrated into a wide glass panel. The spacious cabin offers flexible seating arrangements with a sliding and reclining second row to improve access and comfort for the third row, accommodating up to seven passengers.
While the global GLB comes with electric variants offering an impressive WLTP range of up to 631 km, India’s launch will initially focus solely on petrol and diesel internal combustion engine models. The petrol lineup includes a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system featuring an integrated electric motor, enabling short-distance electric-only driving and improved fuel efficiency.
These engines work with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, providing smooth and responsive driving dynamics. Although the EV variant won’t be coming to India initially, the mild-hybrid technology represents a significant step towards electrification without compromising on performance or convenience for Indian roads.

The new-gen Mercedes-Benz GLB is slated for launch in India sometime in early to mid-2026, likely following the debut of the CLA Electric. Being imported as a CBU, it will command a premium price, expected to start above the Rs 64-72 lakh range of the outgoing model, factoring in international specifications and import duties.
The GLB’s arrival will fill a niche for compact premium SUVs with seven seats, a category with limited options currently in India. Its combination of space, luxury, and advanced technology is set to appeal to luxury family buyers looking for versatility along with the brand prestige of Mercedes-Benz.
