Volkswagen Taigun Facelift to get 8-speed automatic and rear-seat massage
Volkswagen will launch the 2026 Taigun facelift in India with significant upgrades, including an 8-speed torque-converter automatic, rear-seat massage, a panoramic sunroof and refreshed styling.

Volkswagen will unveil the refreshed Taigun SUV in India on April 9, 2026. The mid-cycle update brings several new features, including an 8-speed automatic transmission and a rear-seat massage function. The Taigun remains positioned in the mass-premium segment and is known for its driving dynamics. Its twin, the Skoda Kushaq, recently received similar upgrades.
Key Highlights
- Volkswagen Taigun facelift to debut in India on April 9, 2026
- New features include 8-speed automatic transmission and rear-seat massage function
- Facelift adds connected front light bar and dual-pane panoramic sunroof
- Interior upgrades include new infotainment UI upholstery and ambient lighting
- No ADAS or 360-degree camera expected in the updated model
Key Feature Upgrades
The updated 2026 Volkswagen Taigun will introduce a connected front light setup. This feature mirrors the Skoda Kushaq, which already offers a continuous light bar connecting the headlights. The Taigun’s connected tail-light design will remain unchanged in the facelift.
A dual-pane panoramic sunroof will be added, aligning the Taigun with its Skoda counterpart. The interior will see several enhancements, including a new user interface for the infotainment system, fresh upholstery, and subtle ambient lighting. The second-row seats will now offer a massage function for added comfort.
Volkswagen will also introduce new exterior color options for the Taigun. These new shades will be available alongside the existing palette, providing more choices for buyers.
Mechanical and Safety Changes

The most significant mechanical update is the switch from a 6-speed to an 8-speed automatic transmission. This new 8AT system, paired with the 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine, delivers 114 HP of power and 178 Nm of torque. The upgraded transmission aims to provide smoother gear shifts and reduce jerkiness during driving.
The power output of the engine will remain unchanged. However, the improved transmission is expected to enhance the overall driving experience. The Skoda Kushaq facelift did not include Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) or a 360-degree camera. Given the similarities between Skoda and Volkswagen models, the Taigun facelift is also unlikely to feature these technologies.
Market Position and Launch Details
The Volkswagen Taigun continues to target the mass-premium SUV segment in India. Its combination of new features and proven driving dynamics keeps it competitive in the market. The official launch is scheduled for April 9, 2026.

Conclusion
With the addition of an 8-speed automatic, rear-seat massage, panoramic sunroof and a richer feature list, the 2026 Volkswagen Taigun facelift is poised to feel significantly more upmarket than the outgoing model. For buyers who value strong driving dynamics wrapped in newfound luxury, this refreshed Taigun could emerge as one of the most compelling compact SUVs in its class.
