The price of the FZ Rave has increased from its launch price of Rs 1.17 lakh (ex-showroom) to Rs 1.23 lakh (ex-showroom) as of now.
Key Highlights
- Yamaha FZ Rave priced at Rs 1.23 lakh ex showroom
- Features revised fascia with projector LED headlight and orange alloy wheels
- Powered by 149cc engine delivering 12.4 PS and 13.3 Nm torque
- Kerb weight of 136 kg and 165 mm ground clearance
- Competes with Bajaj Pulsar N150 and Hero Xtreme 160R
Design and Features

The FZ Rave features a revised front fascia with a new projector LED headlight and an LED daytime running light (DRL) setup. The headlight cowl is short and neatly designed. Both Matte Titan and Metallic Black color options come with orange-painted alloy wheels as standard. The FZ Rave shares its core design elements with previous FZ models, including a muscular fuel tank, wide street-style handlebar, 140-section rear tyre, attractive graphics, comfortable seat, and a stubby exhaust.
The motorcycle uses a 149cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine with a SOHC 2-valve head configuration. This engine delivers 12.4 PS of peak power at 7,250 RPM and 13.3 Nm of peak torque at 5,500 RPM, paired with a 5-speed gearbox. The clutch is light and easy to operate, which is beneficial for city riding. The FZ Rave weighs 136 kg (kerb), making it manageable for daily use.
Performance and Comfort
The FZ Rave is designed as a premium commuter and street fighter. Its engine provides adequate performance for urban and light highway use. The gearbox operates smoothly, and the engine remains unstressed during regular commutes. While the motorcycle is fuel-efficient, no dedicated mileage test was conducted during the review period.
Comfort remains a strong point, with an upright seating posture and well-positioned footpegs. The wide handlebar offers good leverage for steering, and the seat is comfortable for both city and short highway rides. The 165 mm ground clearance is suitable for urban roads, and the suspension handles rough patches effectively. Braking is managed by disc brakes at both ends and a single-channel ABS system acting on the front wheel.
Equipment and Limitations
The FZ Rave comes with a fully digital instrument cluster featuring a reverse LCD display. However, it lacks a gear position indicator, which is available in the Brazilian version. The display can be difficult to read in some lighting conditions. Turn indicators and headlights are LEDs, but the tail light is not. The high beam flasher is integrated into the headlight switch, and the fuel filler cap is not hinged, requiring manual handling during refueling.
The Yamaha FZ Rave competes with models like the Bajaj Pulsar N150 and Hero Xtreme 160R. It offers a sporty look, muscular road presence, and reliable mechanicals, making it a strong contender in the 150cc segment.
