Yamaha Motorcycles India is planning to expand its product portfolio in India. Things are revving up for the Japanese two-wheeler in the 2025 edition. As the company has recently announced the reduction in price cut after the implementation of GST 2.0, the brand is aiming to enter the new member under the portfolio for Indian roads. Yamaha is making plans to launch the upcoming XSR 155 in India. However, its spy shot has surfaced on the internet and social media.
Yamaha’s much-awaited XSR 155 has been spied testing on local highways. Captured in camouflage yet instantly recognizable, the XSR 155 is poised to enter the premium 160 cc market segment. The company has announced via social media, tagging ‘Block Your Date’ for November 11, 2025, creating buzz for the launch of the all-new XSR 155. As the recent spy shots have been revealed for the first time, let us take a deep insight into the specifications of the bike and what it can offer to Indian people.
Design & Features: Retro Looks, Modern Ideas
The upcoming Yamaha XSR 155 has been recently spied while testing on Indian roads. Creating a buzz for the bike enthusiasts, the motorcycle was spied while under full camouflage, reflecting its neo-retro stance. On seeing the bike at first sight, we can see that Yamaha is making plans to bring back its king roadster for the people of India.
The recent spy shots revealed that the front fascia of the bike might offer a fairing. The motorcycle might be integrated with round LED headlamps, an upright riding posture, and a teardrop-shaped fuel tank. From the recent spy shot, this bike will be the entry-level motorcycle carrying a retro design language. The most signature element of this upcoming bike is its flat, comfortable seat for riding with your children.
Powertrain and Technology
The upcoming motorcycle, Yamaha XSR 155, will be calibrated on a similar R15 V4 platform. However, the bike will be powered by a 155 cc, liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine that will be capable of producing 18.1 HP of power and 14 Nm of peak torque. This powerful engine will be paired with a 6-speed gearbox with assist and slipper clutch technology to promote swift gear changes and improve ride quality.
Yamaha XSR 155: Specs & Features

As the bike was heavily camouflaged, we could not see the much-anticipated key features of the bike. However, the report says that, with the neo-retro design, the motorcycle will come with a circular LCD instrument cluster. Furthermore, the bike features USD telescopic front forks and a rear monoshock suspension for smooth riding. The bike comes with 17-inch alloy wheels equipped with dual-channel ABS and dual disc brakes.
However, as an entry-level 1660 cc bike, the following features can be expected from the Yamaha lineup.
- Integrated DRLs
- Digital Instrument Cluster
- Bluetooth Connectivity
- Turn-by-Turn Navigation
- Bigger Fuel Tank
- LED headlamp
Segment Position and Market Strategy
Yamaha’s upcoming bike will be positioned between the MT 15 and the R15. As the brand does not include every detail and pricing. We can assume that the expected pricing of the bike will be around Rs 1.80 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. With this pricing, the XSR 155 is poised to give competition to its rivals, such as the KTM Duke 150, TVS Ronin, and Hero Xpulse. The new XSR 155 will debut alongside the Nmax 155 on November 11, 2025.
Conclusion
Yamaha has not launched any bike after the MT lineup. Now the Yamaha XSR 155 emerges as a game-changer for 2025. Its blend of power, retro charm, and Yamaha’s engineering prowess could redefine riding expectations in India. This first sighting confirms Yamaha’s two-pronged approach to challenge segment frontrunners, especially with rivals like the KTM 160 Duke.
