Hindustan Motors Cars
Founded in 1942, Hindustan Motors produced the legendary Ambassador, the quintessential Indian car used by politicians and the public alike. It also manufactured the Contessa, a luxury sedan inspired by the Vauxhall Victor. The Ambassador was discontinued in 2014 due to dwindling sales and outdated design. HML continues to be a joint venture partner with Caterpillar in Hindustan Power Plus, which manufactures diesel engines and generator sets.
