Nissan has always been a rather neglected brand in India. They did make some of the capable products like Sunny, Terrano, Micra, Kicks etc. but none of them were able to fetch the prestige that Nissan Magnite offered. Nissan now knows what Indian buyers are seeking and has presented this new car with the best features and engine options.
With that said, Nissan has been making tough offroading vehicles for the international market. This segment has always been on boom in India as well and this could be a big opportunity for the Japanese manufacturer. The 2020 Nissan X-Trail is a well built and competent offering from the brand to fill the gap between Jeep Compass and Toyota Fortuner or Ford Endeavour. This segment actually had only one contender i.e. Honda CR-V which is now discontinued due to poor positioning. While Toyota Fortuner has been the leader in the segment in terms of sales due to the brand's bulletproof reliability, vehicle’s awesome features and capabilities and lesser maintenance being a Japanese machine, Nissan’s entry into this segment would be a big step and can add more concrete to the brand’s foundation.

The 2021 Nissan X-Trail images were leaked online a few days back and the car looks like wow. Each and every fitment on the car looks purposeful and the car retains its tough looks. It has Nissan’s V motion grille with LED headlamps on the bumpers. The above of the light holds the DRLs and blinkers. On the sides, the car looks aerodynamic and sits on bigger 5-spoke alloy wheels. At the rear, it has neat detailing with LED tail lights and puffed up boot gate. It has a prominent diffuser on the bumper which adds more meat to its appearance.
We don’t have any images to dictate the interiors of the car but as the exteriors of the car are very much identical to Nissan Rogue, we are expecting a similar job done for the interiors as well. Thus, if that will be the case, the interiors would be ecstatic.
In terms of engine, as we said this car is filling the gap between Jeep Compass and Toyota Fortuner, it may come with a 2.5-litre petrol engine producing 179PS of power with 245Nm of torque. This vehicle has a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine in the Chinese market which produces 204PS of power with 300Nm of torque while being paired to a CVT. This engine also gets the optional 4WD system.
