Ford Mustang keeps the existing powertrains for the 60th-anniversary update while laying the groundwork for upcoming hybrid EcoBoost and V-8-powered three-motor E-AWD performance variants.
Ford Mustang has been a dream car of people for over 6 decades now and the love for this car has no boundaries whatsoever. Even people from countries like Russia, China, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Sri Lanka find this an amazing beast. And well, Indians for sure are in love with this car. Therefore, mentioning that a 2024 version of the Ford Mustang has been in the works and is almost ready to launch is exciting. Today we will look at the details of this amazing muscle car and see what magic it brings on the road.

When the Mustang brand celebrates its 60th birthday, the seventh generation of the iconic vehicle that pioneered the pony-car genre will be available. It will likely be available in a coupe and convertible body types with two different transmission options. In the ensuing years, variants with improved performance and efficacy will be released.

The important thing to understand here is that the Bronco, F-150, and Mustang are all pillars of the Ford brand and have tremendous emotional appeal. It's the only Ford vehicle available in North America and one of the last reasonably priced two-door vehicles that are also enjoyable to drive. What would we do if the drop tops, which are ubiquitous in rental fleets in tropical regions, suddenly vanished?

Although the 2024 Mustang will have a new code designation (S650), we anticipate that its D2C-derived architecture will mainly remain the same as that of its S550 forerunner. It will also only get minor evolutionary style updates, like squintier three-element headlights, a modified hexagonal grille, and new air intakes, according to several prototype spy photographs and leaks. At the introduction, additional feature content, such as a fully digital instrument cluster and the most recent safety and driver assistance systems, will be made possible by new electrical architecture. Throughout its anticipated eight-year lifespan, it will also support over-the-air updates to an expanding number of software-enabled functions, keeping it current at all times.
The 2.3-liter EcoBoost I-4 and 5.0-liter Coyote V-8 engines, as well as the six-speed manual and 10-speed automatic transmissions, will both be available at launch. Engine outputs may be changed; for instance, the base 2.3-liter power is rumored to rise from 310 to 320 hp. Additionally, Ford experts have warned us that the six-speed transmission may eventually be phased out throughout the lifetime of this model.
Hybridization, either conventional or plug-in, is a significant powertrain advancement anticipated in 2025. Apparently, both engines will receive an electronic boost. The easiest way to do this would be to use a version of Ford's Modular Hybrid Transmission (MHT), which is used in the Explorer Hybrid and should work with any engine.
Enthusiasts, like me, will be most excited about a special V-8 hybrid powertrain among the electrification options, as was shown in patent drawings. On either side of the V-8, an electric motor the size of an alternator is mounted, with the output shafts of the motors nearly parallel to the centerline of the crankshaft. Given that we are not aware of any other vehicle using such a design, it makes sense that it is patentable. Furthermore, it's far easier than trying to package a single electric motor and having to run a shaft through the oil pan; the latter would probably necessitate half shaft angles that would strain the CV joints already in place. The use of dual motors also enables torque-vectoring up front, which improves handling; could this system power the upcoming Bullitt or Mach 1?
A plug-in variant with at least 10 or 20 miles of electric range has been alluded to in rumors. This would surely increase efficiency and perhaps help in a modest way to achieve higher corporate average fuel economy (CAFE) ratings in the years leading up to 2026. But it would also add to the weight of a sports vehicle, which is already over 3,800 pounds on average.
So, if a Mustang hybrid with an emphasis on efficiency exists, anticipate an EcoBoost with rear drive. It's not difficult to imagine pairing the battery and MHT with the V-8 and front motors, boosting those Coyote V-8 and motor outputs, and producing a deserving Shelby GT500 successor with ferocious torque-vectored AWD performance and respectable EPA numbers once there are a battery and an MHT to work with on this platform.
The retro-style dash with binnacles has been replaced with a more streamlined cabin that is dominated by large instruments and infotainment screens that can display the most recent Sync visuals in stunningly high definition, according to spy pictures. Although it's uncertain if the Dodge Challenger and Chevy Camaro as we know them will endure into the next decade, we anticipate Ford to make the assumption that they will—and to improve the Mustang's chassis dynamics to the point where it once again outhandles the Camaro.

The 2024 Ford Mustang price is expected to get a slight price increase to $30,000 for the entry-level EcoBoost coupe or $40,000 for the GT, with the ragtop costing about $5,500 for either.
On Monday, April 17, 2023, the 59th anniversary of the Mustang's World's Fair debut, could Ford possibly resist releasing its 60th-anniversary Mustang?
