Ford Mustang is an iconic sports car debuting in 1964 in the United States. John Najjar, Philip T. Clark, Joe Oros, and Gale Halderman were the original designers of this coupe, and in 1965 it received the Tiffany Gold Medal award for excellence in design. In 2019, Ford announced an electric crossover of the Mustang, and we expect it to go on sale in the International market in late 2020-2021 onwards. Currently, the sixth generation of the coupe is available in India in only one variant- GT Fastback. The exterior of the car features a sleek, lean and low profile for improved aerodynamics. It comes with an upright grille, sharp HID headlamps, LED fog lamps, and striking rectangular LED tail lamps. The coupe also presents muscular wheel arches and a sharp crease running across its side face. It runs on massive 19-inch all-black alloy wheels.
The interior of Ford Mustang remains crafted with top-notch materials for appealing the premium riders. The dashboard features twin-pod instrument cluster, three circular aircon vents, and a ‘Since 1964’ badging revealing its rich heritage. The presence of toggle switches for different driving modes imparts a classic appeal to the car. An 8-inch SYNC 3 touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compliance takes care of the infotainment of riders. It remains connected to a 9-speaker sound system with an amplifier transforming the cabin into a mini auditorium. Ford has also implemented eight airbags, including passenger knee airbag, Isofix child seat anchors, a rearview camera with up to 10 metres visibility and pre-collision assist for the safety of riders.
The Mustang gets powered by a BS-IV compliant, 4951cc, 8 Cylinders In V Shape, Ti-VCT V8 petrol motor. It generates a mammoth 396 bhp @ 6500 rpm maximum power, and 515 Nm @ 4250 rpm peak torque. A 6-speed automatic gearbox transmits power to the wheels with the help of a paddle-shift dual-clutch. You have four separate drive modes to choose- Normal, Sport, Sport+ and Snow/Wet. Finally, Mustang is an iconic coupe with a powerful engine and excellent driving dynamics.
