2026 Tata Punch CNG Facelift Spied While Testing

The Tata Punch facelift has been spied testing in Munnar, Kerala, revealing a comprehensively updated CNG variant that aligns the popular micro-SUV with Tata’s latest design and tech direction. The heavily camouflaged prototype was seen parked roadside, yet still offered clear hints of a Punch EV-inspired fascia, a refreshed interior, and a confirmed factory CNG option aimed at value-conscious urban buyers.

These latest sightings strongly indicate that Tata is preparing a mid-cycle update that focuses on perceived quality and features rather than radical mechanical changes. This upcoming test mule might have a longer wheelbase than the current model. The facelift appears to elevate the Punch’s appeal with a more premium dashboard layout, a larger touchscreen, and a new steering wheel. Let’s check out what possible changes this car might undergo from the 2025 Tata Punch.

Exterior Design Inspired by Tata Nexon

In terms of design, recent spy images from Munnar show the Punch facelift taking styling cues from newer Tata SUVs like the Nexon and Harrier. The front fascia of the car might offer split-lighting DRLs up top and main LED headlamps positioned lower in the front bumper. We also expect a revised grille with a more horizontal, slatted pattern and a reworked lower air dam to give the front a sharper look.

At the rear, camouflage hides the final design profile, but test mules spotted elsewhere have already hinted at redesigned tail lamps, possibly with a connected LED element and a reshaped bumper. The car will now be equipped with all-new alloy wheels.

Improved Cabin and features

The cabin is where the facelift changes appear to make the biggest leap. With the recent spy shots revealing a two-tone interior and a larger, freestanding touchscreen that’s likely the 10.25‑inch Harman unit seen on newer Tata models.

While getting behind the wheel, the driver may experience a new two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo, and a digital or semi-digital instrument cluster brings the Punch in line with the brand’s latest design language and raises perceived premiumness. Other possible features include:

  • Android Auto/Apple CarPlay
  • Wireless Charger
  • Touch-Based Climate Panel
  • Panoramic Sunroof
  • Cooled glove box
  • Premium Dual-Tone Upholstery

Under the hood, the upcoming model will be powered by a 1.2L Revotron petrol engine that generates 878 HP of power and 115 Nm of peak torque. This robust engine will be paired with a 5-speed manual transmission as standard. The brand is also offering a 5-speed AMT transmission as an option for consumers. When running on CNG, the same engine will be able to produce 73.5 HP and 103 Nm of torque. However, the CNG variant will only be available with a 5-speed manual transmission.

As safety is the top priority of Tata, for the 2026 iteration, the Punch Facelift is likely to receive a 360-degree camera, blind spot monitoring, and potentially expanded airbag coverage. Tata is expected to retain essentials like ABS with EBD, a rear parking camera, and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

Conclusion

The upcoming Tata Punch is poised to refresh and aims to protect its leadership against upcoming rivals and renewed competition from compact crossovers. For buyers, the 2026 Tata Punch CNG facelift promises a familiar, efficient package wrapped in more sophisticated styling and a richer in‑cabin experience.
