Toyota has revealed the Urban Cruiser EBELLA, its first electric SUV for India. Based on the eVitara, it offers modern styling, long range options, a tech-rich cabin, and advanced safety features for the growing EV market.

Toyota has just revealed their much-awaited Urban Cruiser EBELLA on 20th January 2026. The electric SUV is the brand's first EV for the Indian Market that is based on Maruti Suzuki’s eVitara. Once launched the Urban Cruiser EV will enter in the most competitive and fast-growing category in India. The Car appears largely similar to the eVitara featuring sharp front and modern exterior elements along with its Toyota specific tweaks that lend it a slightly distinctive identity. Urban Cruiser EBELLA: Design

The Urban Cruiser EBELLA features a familiar design as eVitara having an upright stance and modern appearance with its design. At the front the car features a closed-off grill, a Toyota logo in between the sleek LED headlamps complimented with a light bar that stretched across the width. From the sides the car is equipped with diamond cut alloy wheels with sharp lines across the body panel that improves aerodynamics with conventional door handles at front and pillar mounted door handles for passengers. As for the rear the urban cruiser gets connected LED taillamps, high-mounted stop lamp and sculpted tailgate that give depth to the design and adds to its visual appeal.

The electric SUV is expected to offer two battery configurations which includes a 49-kWh unit that puts up 142 bhp and 193 Nm of torque; it is suitable for daily city driving. While the other 61 kWh battery is ideal for those buyers who want a long-range vehicle, it can produce 171 bhp and 307 Nm of torque giving a strong acceleration response. As for the range the smaller battery option can provide you a range of 345 km once fully charged, meanwhile the larger 61 Kwh option delivers a claimed range of 426 km on a solitary charge. Moreover, the brand claims that the Urban Cruiser EV can charge itself from 10 to 80 percent in 45 minutes via a DC fast charger.

Price and Rival
Prices for the Urban Cruiser EBELLA are under the wrap, the model is likely to be priced marginally higher than the eVitara. Considering that it can be priced between Rs 15.5 to Rs 22.5 lakh(ex-showroom). After the launch the car is going to directly compete with eVitara, Mahindra BE6, XUV 3XO, Creta EV, MG ZS EV and Vinfast BS6.
