Built on Toyota’s rugged IMV ladder-frame architecture, the 2026 Hilux blends durability with modern sophistication. This updated Hilux is not just a facelift—it’s a comprehensive overhaul aimed at elevating the pickup from a utilitarian vehicle to a premium lifestyle statement. Let us take a closer look at what specs and features we might expect from the upcoming 2026 Toyota Hilux.

Refreshed Design and Exterior

Talking about its main component, the design of the 2026 Toyota Hilux is expected to retain its body-on-frame backbone but shed the outgoing model’s aggressive hexagonal grille for a sleeker, body-coloured honeycomb pattern. Slimmer LED headlamps sit higher on the bumper, flanked by a redesigned skid plate that enhances its rugged appeal.

The side profile remains familiar with square wheel arches and smooth door panels, but we might expect all-new alloy wheel designs and a cleaner bumper to differentiate it at a glance. At the rear, expect revised LED taillamps, a new bumper, and ‘Toyota’ lettering replacing the traditional badge for a more modern look.

Expected Interiors and Specs

For the 2026 season, the Toyota is expected to bring subtle interior changes. The cabin is expected to feature a bold, horizontal dashboard layout with high-quality materials and soft-touch surfaces inspired by the Land Cruiser Prado. Even the dashboard might offer a dual 12.3-inch screen—one for the fully digital instrument cluster and another for the infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Added comforts include ambient lighting, wireless charging, multiple USB-C ports, and rear seat USB outlets. Improved seat ergonomics, upgraded air-conditioning, and better cabin insulation make long drives significantly more comfortable.

Technology and Connectivity

The 2026 Hilux might be packed with a 9-speaker JBL premium audio system, dual-zone climate control, and connected car features that come standard. The infotainment system supports over-the-air (OTA) updates, ensuring your navigation and entertainment stay current. For the first time, select trims feature electric power steering (EPS) and shift-by-wire gear selection, delivering a smoother, more refined driving experience.

Engine and Performance

Under the hood, the 2026 Hilux is expected to retain the proven 2.8-litre 1GD-FTV turbo-diesel engine, now paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system as standard on higher trims. This setup delivers 204 HP of power and up to 500 Nm of torque (automatic), with a 6-speed torque converter automatic or 6-speed manual transmission. The mild-hybrid system improves low-end torque, ensures smoother start-stop operation, and enhances fuel efficiency through regenerative braking.

Expected Safety Suites

Toyota’s Safety Sense 3.0 suite might bring the Level-2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) to the Hilux. This includes pre-collision braking, lane assist, blind-spot monitoring, and a 360-degree camera. The safety net also comprises seven airbags, an electronic parking brake (EPB), hill descent control, and a blind-spot monitor.
