Latest Update: Toyota is expected to bring a sportier version of the Glanza premium hatchback in India. The Japanese brand showcased it in the 2023 auto expo. However, its launch is not confirmed and there’s no concrete date.

As the Toyota Glanza is nothing but a rebadged Maruti Baleno, it is manufactured by Maruti Suzuki and then supplied to Toyota. The hatchback also gets some cosmetic changes in the exterior to differentiate it from the Maruti Baleno.
Exterior and Design
Toyota Glanza comes with an extremely similar design to that of Maruti Baleno with some minor tweaks. The design differences are visible in the front grille, front & rear bumpers, fog lamp housing, headlamp unit, taillamp unit and alloy wheels.
Interior and Features
Toyota Glanza gets the same set of features as the Maruti Baleno. These include an HUD (heads up display), 9 inch smartplay pro plus touchscreen infotainment system, wireless android auto/apple carplay, auto dimming IRVM, tilt and telescopic steering adjustment, 360 degree camera system, etc.
Engine and Transmission
The rebadged premium hatchback comes with a single engine option i.e. a 1.2 litre naturally aspirated petrol producing 89 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque. It comes with 5 speed manual gearbox option or 5 speed AMT auto gearbox option. Moreover, it also gets the petrol+CNG option paired with only a 5 speed manual gearbox.

What could have been better?
- Misses out on Toyota like build quality.
- AMT gearbox is average performing, segment rivals offer better.
- No option for CVT auto.
- No diesel engine option.
Engine & Performance
Glanza is available in two variants- G and V (both in petrol). The G-trim gets powered by a 1.2-litre K12N engine along with a mild-hybrid motor generating 89 bhp and 113 Nm. The V-trim, on the contrary, gets a 1.2-litre K12M engine making 82 bhp and 113 Nm. The power gets transmitted to the wheels by either a 5-speed manual or a CVT transmission.
Exterior Design
You might confuse it with a Maruti Baleno, as there are many identical features between both these top-selling hatchbacks. The conspicuous grille and the Toyota badge standing in the centre of it are two prominent cosmetic difference between them. Glanza is successful in grabbing attention with projector headlamps, LED DRLs, designer two-tone 16-inch wheels, and the right amount of chrome effect throughout the body.
Interior & Features
Similar to the exterior, there are many similarities between Baleno and Glanza in the interiors as well. You get the same black and blue upholstery earlier present in Baleno. The hatchback, however, scores brownie points in terms of infotainment. You get a large 7.0-inch touchscreen- ‘Toyota Smart Playcast’ with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The multifunctional steering also comes with voice command features. The hatchback also promises exemplary safety features, including dual airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat anchors, and rear parking sensors as standard.
