Japan Launch and Model Overview
This is the first time Yamaha is offering the Aerox Alpha in Japan. Previously, this model was available only in ASEAN countries, including Indonesia. In Japan, Yamaha already sells the X Force and NMax scooters, both with 155 cc engines. The Aerox Alpha will join these as the third 155 cc scooter in the lineup, but it is positioned as a sporty scooter rather than a maxi scooter.
The 2026 Aerox Alpha may come in several new color options for the Japanese market. The exact variant lineup for Japan is not confirmed, but in Indonesia, the scooter is available in three main variants: Standard, Cybercity, and Turbo.
The Standard variant offers Black, Red, and Blue colors. Cybercity comes in Matte Blue Red, while Cybercity ABS is available in Matte Purple Black and White Pearl Blue. The Turbo variant features Elixir Dark Silver, and the Turbo Ultimate adds cosmetic updates. There is also a Turbo 70th Livery with a unique color scheme.
Design, Features, and Performance

The Yamaha Aerox 155 Alpha features a distinct design compared to the Aerox 155 sold in India. It includes a new lighting signature, projector LED headlights, LED tail lights, and LED turn indicators with an emergency stop signal. These updates give it a modern and sporty appearance.
The Aerox Alpha offers more features than the India-spec Aerox 155. It comes with a TFT instrument cluster with navigation and three display modes, two riding modes (T and S), and Turbo Y-Shift with three throttle modes (low, medium, and high). The scooter is equipped with dual disc brakes and a gas-charged rear shock absorber, which is not available in the Indian version. Additional features include a central spine housing the fuel tank, a 24.5-liter boot, a smart key system, ABS, and traction control.
The 2026 Aerox Alpha uses the same 155 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) as previous models. This engine produces 15.4 HP and 14.2 Nm of torque. The YECVT system with turbo variants enables the different throttle modes mentioned earlier.
Market Position and Pricing
In Indonesia, the Aerox Alpha is priced between IDR 29,900,000 (about Rs 1.65 lakh) and IDR 39,950,000 (about Rs 2.2 lakh). Yamaha has not announced plans to launch the Aerox Alpha in India. In India, the Aerox 155 competes with other large-displacement scooters such as the Hero Xoom 160 and Aprilia SR 175.

Conclusion
With the 2026 Aerox Alpha YECVT, Yamaha continues to refine the sporty scooter experience by blending innovation with daily practicality. Its advanced transmission, new variants, and feature-rich design reaffirm Yamaha’s commitment to performance-focused urban mobility. The Aerox Alpha YECVT sets a new benchmark in the premium scooter category for 2026 and beyond.
