The Indian automotive market is shifting towards the new GST reforms 2.0, which were implemented by the Indian government just before the festival season. With this many entry-level cars, premium sedans, and luxury SUVs, prices across the portfolio have been reduced. According to the most recent report, Audi India has announced that it supports the GST 2.0 reforms by lowering the cost of every vehicle in its lineup.
Audi India has announced that it will also provide Indian customers with price reductions and lower GST rates across its portfolio, with effect from September 22, 2025. The reduction ranges from Rs 2.6 lakh to Rs 7.8 lakh, marking one of the biggest reductions in prices across the luxury car market in India. This initiative will enable Audi to reshape buyer expectations and experience a surge in festive demand for premium cars nationwide.
GST 2.0: Key Changes and Their Impact
The Government of India implemented GST 2.0 in early September 2025. This revision in the GST tax slab will bring a new advancement in automobile taxation. The previous complex tax structure sweeps around 28% GST with an additional Cess up to 22% on all automobiles in India. Now under the new tax regime, all luxury cars above sub-4 meters with large engines will be taxed at a single 40% GST tax slab, eliminating cess and making automobiles more accessible and affordable.
For Audi, this new flat rate will have an 8-10% reduction in overall taxes, directly reflected in ex-showroom pricing across its models. The alignment is set to boost luxury car sales and covers broader market confidence as the festive season approaches. Many luxury purchases can be made this festive season. Reducing the price may draw in new customers with substantial growth in premium market segments.
