Latest Price Update
Bajaj Auto announced an INR 5,000 discount on the base variant of its CNG-powered commuter motorcycle, the Freedom 125. With the price cut, the drum brake variant of the motorcycle is now available at ₹85,976 (ex-showroom).
The other variants of the Freedom 125 are priced according to the ex-showrooms as INR 95,981 for the Drum LED variant and INR 1.11 lakh for the Disc LED variant.
This isn’t the first instance of a price revision for the Freedom 125. Bajaj had previously announced a price cut in December 2024 to attract more sales.
Sales Strategy Amid Sluggish Demand
The recent price drop is likely a tactical move aimed at reviving sales for the Freedom 125, which has reportedly witnessed a dip in demand in recent months. With increased competition in the commuter segment and evolving buyer preferences, the discount could help the brand regain some lost traction.
Design and Features
The Freedom 125 is equipped with a 785 mm long seat, which Bajaj touts as the longest in its segment, a boon for pillion comfort on daily rides. Depending on the variant, the motorcycle offers different levels of instrumentation and braking capabilities:
- Top Variant: Features a negative LCD display with Bluetooth connectivity, along with a front disc brake for enhanced stopping power.
- Lower Variants: Get a basic LCD cluster without Bluetooth and come equipped with drum brakes at both ends.
All variants feature a conventional telescopic front fork with fork sleeves and a rear monoshock suspension, ensuring consistent ride quality across the range.
Powertrain and Performance
At the heart of the Freedom 125 lies a 125cc, single-cylinder engine, delivering 9.4 bhp of peak power and 9.7 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, offering a balance between efficiency and usability for daily commuting.
What sets the motorcycle apart is its dual-fuel system:
- 2 kg CNG tank
- 2-litre auxiliary petrol tank
This configuration allows the Freedom 125 to deliver a claimed total range of up to 330 km, making it an economical choice for those covering long daily distances on a tight fuel budget.
Final Thoughts
With the latest price cut, Bajaj Auto is clearly pushing to make the Freedom 125 more appealing in the highly competitive 125cc commuter segment. As the only CNG motorcycle available in the Indian market, the Freedom 125 continues to stand out with its unique proposition of fuel cost savings, range flexibility, and commuter-friendly design.
