Bajaj has announced its decision to explore hydrogen-powered vehicles under its subsidiary, Chetak Technologies Limited (CTL). This decision will put Bajaj on the stage of manufacturers who are working forward to introduce the first Indian-made production model featuring a hydrogen engine.
While being on its initial stage of inception, Bajaj is working on its commitment of offering technical and sustainable enhancement in the automotive sector of India. CTL's exploration of hydrogen vehicles marks a significant expansion of Bajaj Auto's capability to offer cutting-edge products that stand out in the market.
Leading the Charge
Currently no Indian two-wheeler manufacturer has yet initiated the development of hydrogen-powered two-wheelers, setting Bajaj apart as a pioneer in this domain. While international collaborations, like Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, and Yamaha, the Japanese Big Four, have started the development of hydrogen-powered vehicles, Bajaj's independent voyage on a journey to introduce an in house CNG power two-wheeler portfolio, highlights its dedication to driving innovation on a global scale.
Diversifying Power Sources
Bajaj's foray into alternative power sources is not limited to hydrogen alone. The company has been proactive in diversifying its two-wheeler portfolio, as evidenced by its upcoming CNG bike project. This strategic manoeuvre aligns with Bajaj's vision of offering a diverse range of eco-friendly and technologically advanced vehicles to meet evolving consumer preferences and regulatory standards.

Key Appointments
Facilitating this ambitious project is the appointment of Abraham Joseph as the managing director of Chetak Technology Ltd. Joseph brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the table, having previously served as the Chief Technology Officer at Bajaj Auto Limited. During his tenure, Joseph played a pivotal role in shaping iconic brands like the Pulsar and overseeing the development of other successful models, including the Platina, CT, Avenger, and Dominar.

In a strategic reshuffle within Bajaj Auto Ltd., Ramtilak Ananthan will assume the position of Chief Technology Officer. Ananthan's distinguished career trajectory within Bajaj Auto, from his role as Vice President of Research & Development to Head of Test & Validation, underscores his instrumental contribution to the company's technological advancements and adherence to regulatory standards.

Bajaj can be seen embarked on its self-derived journey towards hydrogen-powered two-wheelers, which has led the two-wheeler industry to eagerly await the unfolding of this innovation.
