BYD Atto 3 Crosses 1 Million Global Sales Milestone

Rapid Global Success Since 2022 Launch

BYD’s compact electric SUV, the Atto 3, has achieved a major global milestone, surpassing 1 million cumulative sales since its debut. Launched in China as the Yuan Plus in February 2022, the Atto 3 has reached this figure in under four years, making it one of BYD’s fastest-selling electric models.

Strong Performance in China and Worldwide Expansion

The SUV made its way to the Indian market later in 2022 and quickly established itself as BYD’s best-selling battery electric vehicle across several regions, including India. In its home market of China, the Atto 3 witnessed swift adoption, with sales hitting 300,000 units in the first 14 months, followed by 200,000 units in the next six months. The remaining half million units were sold over the subsequent 25 months, coinciding with BYD’s rapid global expansion of the model to over 100 countries worldwide.

2025 Model Year Update Brings Key Upgrades

To keep the momentum going, BYD rolled out the 2025 model year update of the Atto 3 in India this March. The refreshed version introduced several new features, such as ventilated front seats, a sleek all-black interior, and a Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) auxiliary battery, further enhancing the SUV’s value proposition.

Powertrain and Battery Options

Powering the Atto 3 is a front-mounted electric motor that delivers 201 bhp and 310 Nm of torque. Buyers can choose between two LFP battery packs: a 49.9 kWh unit with a claimed range of 468 km and a 60.5 kWh version offering up to 521 km on a single charge.

Indian Lineup and Pricing

In India, the Atto 3 holds the distinction of being BYD’s first passenger vehicle and continues to gain traction among EV buyers. It is offered in three variants according to ex-showroom pricing:

• Dynamic: INR 25 lakh
• Premium: INR 29.85 lakh
• Superior: INR 33.99 lakh
