BYD, the renowned electric vehicle manufacturer, has officially opened bookings for its highly anticipated electric sedan, the BYD Seal. The much-awaited launch is set to take place on March 5, 2024, with an estimated ex-showroom price of Rs. 50.0 lakh. This marks BYD's third venture into the Indian market, following the successful introduction of the E6 MPV and Atto 3 SUV.

BYD Seal EV Specifications and Range
As the excitement builds, BYD is yet to officially unveil the specifications of the India-specific Seal sedan. However, reports suggest that it will boast an 82.5kWh battery pack coupled with an electric motor situated on the rear axle. The India-spec BYD Seal is projected to offer an impressive range of 570km on the WLTP cycle, delivering 230PS of power and 360Nm of torque.

The BYD Seal incorporates the brand's patented blade battery technology, enabling rapid charging capabilities. According to BYD, with a 150kW charger, the Seal's battery can be charged from 10-80 percent in a mere 37 minutes. Charging from 0-100 percent using a standard 11kW AC charger is expected to take approximately 8.6 hours.
BYD Seal Design and Features
Diverging from the popular crossover styling seen in competitors like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6, the BYD Seal takes on the classic 3-box sedan design. Notable design features include an all-glass roof, four boomerang-shaped LED DRLs, LED projector headlights, flush-fitting door handles, and a full-width LED taillight at the rear. With dimensions of 4800mm length, 1875mm width, and 1460mm height, the Seal offers a generous wheelbase of 2920mm and a boot space of 320 liters.

Inside the cabin, the Seal embraces a minimalist aesthetic, a departure from the flamboyant Atto 3. A 15.6-inch rotatable touchscreen takes center stage, complemented by a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display. Noteworthy features include the panoramic glass roof and advanced driver assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control, lane departure assist, collision avoidance assist, and more. This combination of elegance and functionality positions the BYD Seal as an attractive option for executive car buyers.
