Chery Tiggo 7L design patented In India, a rival to Tata Harrier and Mahindra XUV 7XO
The Chery Tiggo 7L, a global compact-midsize SUV, has had its design patented in India, signalling the Chinese brand’s growing interest in our market.

Chery Automobile, a Chinese automaker, has patented the Tiggo 7L SUV in India. This move comes as Chery partners with JSW Motors to introduce New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) in the Indian market. The patent filing suggests a possible launch of the Tiggo 7L or may serve as intellectual property protection.

Chery Tiggo 7L Patent Details
The Chery Tiggo 7L was launched in China just days ago. It is a larger version of the recently refreshed Tiggo 7. The Tiggo 7L's patent in India indicates Chery's interest in expanding its model range in the country. Other Chery models like the Jetour T2, iCar V23, and Jaecoo J5 are also considered for the Indian market.
Pricing for the Tiggo 7L in China starts at CNY 78,900 and goes up to CNY 99,900. This is approximately Rs 10.77 lakh to Rs 13.64 lakh. The standard Tiggo 7 is priced between CNY 69,900 and CNY 81,900, or about Rs 9.54 lakh to Rs 11.18 lakh.
Design and Features

The Tiggo 7L features a distinctive exterior design. It has a large spindle-shaped V grille, vertical triangular bumper elements, and stylish headlights. The SUV also includes semi-flush door handles, large alloy wheels, a longer body and wheelbase, connected LED taillights, and a more dynamic silhouette compared to the Tiggo 7.
The Tiggo 7L measures 4,655 mm in length with a 2,720 mm wheelbase. In comparison, the Tiggo 7 is 4,530 mm long with a 2,670 mm wheelbase. Inside, the Tiggo 7L offers a 15.6-inch infotainment screen and a 10.25-inch instrument cluster. The Tiggo 7 has a dual 12.3-inch screen setup in a single unit.
Safety features in the Tiggo 7L include up to seven airbags and an L2 ADAS suite. This suite provides autonomous driving features such as automatic emergency braking and adaptive cruise control.
Engine Options and Strategy
The Tiggo 7L patent in India covers two engine options: a 1.5L turbo petrol engine and a 1.6L turbo petrol engine. The 1.6L engine delivers 197 HP of peak power. The Tiggo 7, by contrast, offers only a 1.5L turbo petrol engine rated at 154 HP. Chery's strategy involves offering both Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 7L variants. This approach aims to address different market segments and leverage global positioning advantages.
