The Chery Tiggo 7L, recently patented, introduces a 540° panoramic view system and advanced features. The top variant in China is priced at RMB 1,06,900, which converts to approximately Rs. 14.56 lakh in India at current exchange rates. This positions the Tiggo 7L among established models like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Tata Sierra, and Renault Duster.
Key Highlights
- Chery Tiggo 7L top variant priced at RMB 1,06,900 or Rs 14.56 lakh in China
- Expected Indian price around Rs 18 lakh ex-showroom for the 4.7-meter SUV
- 1.6 litre turbocharged engine produces 197 HP and 310 Nm torque
- Features include sliding 15.6-inch infotainment screen and 540-degree surround view
- Competes with Hyundai Creta Kia Seltos Tata Sierra and Renault Duster
Pricing and Market Position
The Tiggo 7L measures 4.7 metres in length, making it one of the longer vehicles in its segment. If launched in India, it is expected to be priced at around Rs. 18 lakh (ex-showroom), accounting for import and localization costs. This pricing would place it in direct competition with other mid-size SUVs in the Indian market.
The segment typically features vehicles with power outputs near 158bhp and 250Nm of torque. In contrast, the Tiggo 7L offers a 1.6-litre turbocharged engine delivering 197 HP and 310 Nm of torque. This makes it one of the most powerful options in its class.
Powertrain and Strategy
The Tiggo 7L is a pure internal combustion engine (ICE) SUV. This does not align with JSW's usual focus on New Energy Vehicles (NEVs), which include hybrids and electric cars. However, this model could be a strategic move to enter the competitive mid-size SUV segment in India.
Key Features and Technology
The Tiggo 7L stands out with a sliding 15.6-inch infotainment screen. This screen can move to the passenger side, functioning as a co-driver display. Other notable features include 235/55 18-inch or 19-inch tyres, dual-tone alloy wheels, and 256-color ambient lighting.
The vehicle also offers a 540° surround view system, a 50W wireless charging pad, and a 639-liter boot. Connectivity features include wireless integration and a Snapdragon 8155 automotive-grade chip, enhancing in-car technology and user experience.

CarBike 360 Says
The Chery Tiggo 7L’s India‑bound patent filing underlines JSW and Chery’s intent to strengthen their presence in the fiercely contested mid‑size SUV segment. With its larger footprint, high‑tech cabin, and twin turbo‑petrol options, the Tiggo 7L looks set to challenge the Tata Harrier and Mahindra XUV 7XO, while undercutting them on pricing to appeal to budget‑conscious yet tech‑savvy buyers across India.
