The first shipment of the Basalt left for South Africa on April 30, 2026. With this consignment, Citroen's total exports to South Africa from India have reached 10,000 units.

Citroen Basalt Export Details

The Citroen Basalt is built on Stellantis' Smart Car platform. Indian research and development teams designed and industrialized this platform for both domestic and international markets. The Basalt uses up to 95 percent local content, reflecting a high degree of localization in its manufacturing process.

Stellantis India's CEO and Managing Director, Shailesh Hazela, emphasized that exporting the Basalt strengthens India's role as a competitive manufacturing and sourcing base for the company. The inclusion of the Basalt in Citroen's export program marks the next phase of the brand's global expansion from its Indian operations.
