The recent shift in the GST tax reforms has altered the prices of cars, bikes, and scooters in the Indian automotive market. As per the latest reports, Hero MotoCorp has announced a significant price reduction across its motorcycle and scooter lineup with effect from September 22, 2025. With the introduction of the GST tax reforms at the 56th GST Council meeting by the government of India, Hero MotoCorp has decided to pass on the full GST benefits to Indian customers.

With the implementation of the new GST 2.0 tax slab, the prices of the Hero motorcycles and scooters will drop by up to Rs 15,743 on selected models. This move will surely help the company to offer more accessibility, reliability, affordability, and mobility in the rural and semi-urban areas. With such a price drop, Hero will be more affordable than ever to buy for the lower middle class.

GST Reforms Drive Substantial Price Reductions

The Government of India has revised the previous tax slab and introduced the new tax slab for the benefit of the Indian automobile industry. With the revised Goods and Services Tax (GST) structure, two-wheelers with engine capacities up to 350 cc are now taxed at 18% instead of the earlier 28%. This implementation of taxation will gradually reduce the price of the motorcycles and scooters, along with the removal of the additional Cess. The timing of this rollout initiative with the upcoming festive season is expected to boost demand significantly.

Strategic Impact and Market Outlook

Speaking about the reduction in price cut after the implementation of the new GST 2.0 regime, Mr. Vikram Kasbekar, CEO of Hero MotoCorp, said, “We gratefully welcome the government’s next-gen 2.0 reforms, which will boost consumption, generate GDP growth, and accelerate India’s journey to a $5 trillion economy. In addition, more than half of the Indian households use two-wheelers for their daily needs.”

He later added, “As the festive season approaches, making two-wheelers more affordable and accessible for India’s largest consumer base, while giving a strong demand push. Hero MotoCorp reaffirms its commitment to enabling mobility, empowering families, and supporting the vision of Make in India.”
