  • Honda patents Airblade scooter design in India
  • Airblade 160 features a 157cc engine with 14.7 HP and 14.8 Nm

Airblade 160 Features and Specifications

The Airblade 160 uses a 157cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine. This engine delivers 14.7bhp and 14.8Nm of torque. The scooter has a kerb weight of 113 kg. This makes it 29 kg lighter than the Hero Xoom 160 and 13 kg lighter than the Yamaha Aerox 155. The Airblade 160 includes full-LED lighting, an LCD console, and a smart key feature. It also comes with single-channel ABS for added safety.

Market Context and Potential Launch

Honda has previously patented designs of its international scooters in India. However, a patent filing does not guarantee a launch in the Indian market. Currently, Honda does not offer a scooter in the 150cc to 160cc segment in India. The Airblade 160 could fill this gap if launched. It would compete with models like the Yamaha Aerox 155 and Hero Xoom 160.

The Airblade's sporty styling includes a sharp headlight, a spine on the floorboard, and sleek body panels. The patent filing reflects Honda's interest in the growing premium scooter segment in India. The company has not confirmed any plans to launch the Airblade in India yet.

CarBike 360 Says

Honda’s Airblade patent filing highlights the brand’s interest in India’s expanding scooter market, where style, practicality and premium features are driving demand. While a patent does not confirm a launch, it keeps the Airblade in the spotlight and strengthens Honda’s image as a brand tracking evolving buyer preferences closely. The move also adds more anticipation around its future scooter lineup.
