Honda Car India is set to launch the next-generation Amaze on December 4, 2024, marking a significant step forward for the compact sedan. Aimed at bolstering its presence in the competitive Indian market, the updated Amaze is expected to offer enhanced aesthetics, upgraded features, and a refined platform. Here’s a comprehensive look at what the new Honda Amaze has to offer.

A Mature & Premium Exterior Design

Honda has teased the new Amaze’s design through official sketches, while recently leaked images give a clearer picture of its exterior. The sedan adopts a more sophisticated and larger design language, taking cues from the Honda Elevate and City.

  • Front Fascia: The front features distinct LED headlamps with integrated DRLs and a bold hexagonal grille, giving it a commanding road presence. The lower section includes a large air dam, and LED fog lamps, though detailed views of the bumper remain hidden in the leaks. The twin power bulges on the bonnet, reminiscent of the Elevate, add a muscular touch.
  • Side Profile: While the silhouette remains similar to the outgoing model, the new Amaze now sits on updated 15-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels. This side profile retains the compact sedan's proportions, ensuring it continues to appeal to urban buyers looking for a practical yet stylish vehicle.
  • Rear Design: At the rear, the car boasts an all-new boot lid and LED taillamps inspired by the Honda City. The integration of minimal chrome enhances the sedan’s premium appeal, while the sleek design gives the Amaze a more mature and upscale presence.

A Tech Savvy Interior Design

Honda’s teaser sketches reveal a modernized interior, heavily influenced by the Honda Elevate and City. The cabin is designed to provide a premium experience, featuring a clean layout, high-quality materials, and cutting-edge technology.

  • Dashboard and Tech: The new Amaze adopts a dashboard similar to the Elevate, centered around an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. This system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, catering to tech-savvy buyers.
  • Premium Comfort: Semi-leatherette beige upholstery, automatic climate control, and a wireless charger contribute to a comfortable and luxurious cabin. A three-spoke steering wheel, semi-digital instrument cluster, and an electric sunroof add to the sedan's modern appeal.
  • Safety and Driver Assistance: Honda is expected to introduce camera-based Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) in the top-spec ZX variant. Features like lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and collision mitigation could make their way into the Amaze, a first for its segment.

Platform and Powertrain

The next-generation Amaze is expected to transition to Honda City’s Global Small Car Platform, improving its structural rigidity and overall driving dynamics. However, the powertrain remains unchanged:

Engine Options

The 1.2-liter i-VTEC petrol engine continues to power the Amaze, producing 89 bhp and 110 Nm of peak torque. Buyers can choose between a 5-speed manual gearbox and a CVT automatic transmission, maintaining its focus on efficiency and smooth driving.

While the engine is carried over, the adoption of the new platform is likely to enhance ride quality, handling, and safety.

Pricing and Availability

The new Honda Amaze will hit showrooms on December 4, 2024, with an expected price range of ₹8.8 lakh to ₹13 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). This competitive pricing positions it against rivals like the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura, and Tata Tigor in the compact sedan segment.

A Strong Contender in the Segment

The 2024 Honda Amaze brings a mix of modern design, advanced features, and enhanced safety, all while retaining its proven powertrain and practicality. With the addition of premium touches and ADAS technology, it aims to set new benchmarks in the compact sedan market.

Honda’s strategy to upgrade the Amaze with a focus on both style and substance could make it a top choice for buyers seeking a value-packed sedan. As the launch date approaches, anticipation for Honda’s next-generation Amaze continues to build.
