Honda Cars India has also hiked prices of its best-selling sedan Honda City and Elevate SUVs' automatic trims by ₹20,000. The revised price is based on the hike in input cost for the company. The prices are effective at present, and Honda City starts from ₹12.28 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi and goes up to ₹20.75 lakh in the strong hybrid variant.
Price Hike: Honda City Updated Price List
Honda City Pricing
All the variants of the Honda City bear the price increase. Below are the complete details of the revised prices.
Variant | Old Price (INR) | New Price (INR) |
12,08,100 | 12,28,100 | |
12,85,000 | 13,05,000 | |
City V CVT | 14,10,000 | 14,30,000 |
13,92,000 | 14,12,000 | |
15,17,000 | 15,37,000 | |
City ZX MT | 15,10,000 | 15,30,000 |
16,35,000 | 16,55,000 | |
City e:HEV hybrid | 20,55,100 | 20,75,100 |
The City in the case of the petrol is given a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine and is provided with an Atkinson Cycle engine allied to an electric motor in its hybrid version, that produces 126 hp in aggregate output. It doesn't have competitors in its hybrid version as yet in the country, however the petrol will see competition coming in from other products like the Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Virtus, Skoda Slavia among others.
Honda Elevate Price
Honda Elevate SUV price is hiked only for the automatic models. The manual transmission versions remain the same. Here is how the prices go:
Model | Old Price (INR) | New Price (INR) |
13,71,000 | 13,91,000 | |
15,10,000 | 15,30,000 | |
16,43,000 | 16,63,000 |
The Elevate uses a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, the same as in the City, and does not provide a hybrid option. It goes up against very stiff competition in a packed segment with others like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.
Upcoming Features
Aside from announcing a price increase, Honda is also introducing an exciting new variant known as Elevate Black Edition and will come in all-black interior and exterior design. This will draw customers who want a more stylish and modern look for their cars.
Market Implication
These price hikes come at a time when several automobile companies face increasing production costs due to inflation and supply chain disruptions. Thus, Honda wants to stay profitable with the hike but still maintain its quality cars, which the consumer demands.
Consumer Response
Consumer responses to price increases in the automobile industry are not uniform. The same increase may deter some buyers from purchasing, but others will not be discouraged as they have to consider brand loyalty and features in the vehicle while making their purchasing decisions.
Conclusion
In a nutshell, the latest price hike for Honda City and Elevate by Honda Cars India reflects the continuous pressure the automotive industry is under because of increasing input costs. Now that the new price structure is in place, Honda has much to look forward to, such as the exciting Elevate Black Edition variant.
For interested buyers or collectors who want to look at these models in more detail or are contemplating buying them sometime in early 2025, it would be best to check local dealerships or online platforms for further specifications and availability.
