Recent sightings of Hyundai's upcoming Creta EV undergoing tests in Hyderabad have provided valuable insights into the electric SUV's design and features. Despite heavy camouflage, the test mules revealed key aspects of the vehicle's aerodynamics and styling. The electric version of the Hyundai Creta is expected to hit the market either later this year or in early 2025, potentially reshaping the compact electric SUV segment in India.
The overall silhouette of the Creta EV appears to align closely with its internal combustion engine (ICE) counterpart.
EV-specific modifications noticed in the Creta EV's spy shots:
- A front-mounted charging port
- Newly designed aerodynamic alloy wheels
- Horizontal LED positioning lamps
- Sequential turn indicators
The refreshed wheels are of special importance since they help lower the vehicle's drag coefficient, boosting its range. The rear of the SUV is expected to feature connected LED tail lamps, contributing to a more futuristic appearance.
Although interior details were not visible in these spy shots, industry speculation suggests that the Creta EV will incorporate advanced features similar to those found in other Hyundai electric vehicles.
Creta EV's features may include:
- A 4-dot steering wheel design
- Dual-screen setup for infotainment and instrument cluster
- Voice-enabled panoramic sunroof
- Front ventilated seats
- Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)
Performance-wise, the Hyundai Creta EV is anticipated to be equipped with a 45-kWh battery pack, potentially offering a range of approximately 450 km on a single charge. The electric motor is expected to generate around 138 hp and 255 Nm of torque, aligning with the performance of Hyundai's current electric offerings. An advanced regenerative braking system is also likely to be included, further enhancing the vehicle's efficiency and range.
The launch of the Creta EV will position Hyundai to compete with both existing and upcoming electric SUVs in the Indian market, including models like Maruti eVX, Tata Curvv EV, Mahindra BE.05, and MG Windsor EV.
By utilizing the same platform as the Creta ICE, Hyundai may be able to maintain competitive pricing, potentially making the electric SUV an attractive option for consumers seeking a balance of range, performance, and brand reliability in the evolving electric vehicle landscape.
