Hyundai Creta Tops India’s Car Sales in March 2025, Surpasses Maruti and Tata

In a notable shift within India's automotive market, Hyundai's Creta emerged as the nation's best-selling car in March 2025, with 18,059 units dispatched. This mid-size SUV surpassed traditional favourites such as the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Tata Punch, and Maruti Suzuki Wagon R to claim the top spot. Notably, no single model exceeded the 20,000-unit dispatch mark during this period.

The dominance of SUVs in the Indian market was further underscored, with six out of the top ten best-selling models belonging to this segment. This trend highlights the growing consumer preference for SUVs over other vehicle types. Additionally, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga secured its position as the highest-selling Multi-Utility Vehicle (MUV) for the month and ranked fifth overall. The increasing acceptance of MUVs among buyers reflects a shift in consumer preferences. Conversely, hatchbacks appear to be losing momentum, exemplified by the Maruti Suzuki Alto, which has consistently fallen outside the top ten rankings.

These developments indicate a significant transformation in the Indian automotive landscape, with SUVs and MUVs gaining traction and reshaping market dynamics.
