Jaguar is gearing up to unveil the name of its all-new electric grand tourer, marking a key step in its EV-focused future.

Jaguar will announce the name of its upcoming electric grand-tourer, codenamed Type 00, on Tuesday, May 12. This new EV marks Jaguar's first launch after its shift to an EV-only brand in late 2024.

Key Details of the Type 00 EV

Jaguar plans to unveil the production version of the Type 00 in September. The vehicle will use the Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA), a new platform designed for electric vehicles. The Type 00 will feature a triple-motor system producing over 1,000 HP and 1,300 Nm of torque.

The car will offer a WLTP-claimed range of 700 km. Jaguar states that a 15-minute charge can add 321 km of range. The Type 00 will also include air suspension and twin-valve active dampers for improved ride quality.

Design and Launch Timeline

Prototype images show the Type 00 retains classic grand-tourer proportions, including a long bonnet and short rear. The design features a slab-sided fascia and a sloping roofline, staying close to the original concept. While the concept was a 2-door, the production model will be a 4-door GT.

Jaguar expects to launch the Type 00 in India by late 2027 or early 2028. The company has not yet released pricing details for the new model.
