Market Context and Future Outlook

Despite this, they have achieved notable sales figures within a short period. Suzuki's strong performance has set a benchmark among the Japanese brands, while Honda and Yamaha continue to expand their offerings.
Yamaha's EC-06 is expected to see increased sales as its availability expands to more cities and states. The current sales figures reflect only the initial phase of Yamaha's rollout. As Japanese brands continue to invest in electric mobility, their market share may grow further in the coming months.
The data from January to April 2026 highlights the growing competition in India's electric scooter segment. Japanese brands are steadily increasing their presence, challenging established domestic players and contributing to the overall growth of the electric two-wheeler market.

Japanese brands may still be finding their footing in India’s electric scooter segment, but their steady sales reflect a long-term strategy rather than quick gains. With trusted brand value, improving infrastructure, and upcoming product launches, these manufacturers are expected to strengthen their position gradually, making the EV space more competitive and diverse in the coming years.
