JSW-MG Motors is on a spree to record-breaking sales, especially in the EV category. Thanks to SAIC subsidiary Wuling’s Cloud Indian counterpart “Windsor” driving top-position in the sales mark for the British Manufacturer in the sustainable passenger mobility space. Since the introduction of Windsor in the Indian auto market, it has attracted a wide array of consumers resulting in the last three months of Windsor’s sales skyrocketing, allowing the electric crossover to be the no.1 selling EV in India, surpassing the contenders from Tata Motors independently.
For the track, to date a total of 15,000 units of Windsor have been delivered with almost 3,000 units being sold consecutively from the last four months, highlighting more than 40% contribution individually in overhaul, and 70% particularly in EV space. As of February, JSW-MG Motors made a sales of 4,002 units, where EVs played a major role by 78% to the company’s total sales, including the 2,431units of the Windsor, also the highest-selling model across the lineup.
Talking of March, the magic continues with EVs supporting 85% of total sales, and Windsor taking the limelight capturing a concentration near to 50%. JSW-MG Motors recorded a sales figure of 5,500 units, the highest from the brand, and 450 units added up in comparison to previous year’s 5,050, followed by 1,492 units in February the same year, which has garnered the OEM with a 9.0% YoY (year-on-year), and 37.43% MoM (month-on-month) growth.
Additionally, the brand includes popular names like Comet EV, and ZS EV apart from the Windsor EV, which is considered to lead the Morris Garages journey to another level in the mass-market sustainable mobility solutions. Furthermore, JSW-MG Motors is also eyeing to cater for a niche consumer base in the electric vehicle segment with the introduction of MG Select dealership in 13 cities nationwide for the first phase, currently bagging products such as Cyberster, an electric two-door cabriolet roadster, and a premium full-sized MPV E9.
Also, it has come to notice that Windsor’s “BAAS” (battery as a service) initiative has led to a large number of consumers finding Windsor as a favourable choice over their budget, allowing the model’s sales to surge at an unexpected rate. Moreover, Windsor has become a key player in elevating JSW-MG’s game in the Indian automotive market, and it cannot be denied the product has emerged as a crucial element of the Government's electric revolution.
