The Kia Carens MPV reached a significant milestone in May 2026, surpassing 3 lakh cumulative wholesale units in India. Since its launch in February 2022, the Carens, along with the Clavis and Clavis EV introduced in 2025, has sold a total of 3,01,657 units domestically. Exports have exceeded 32,000 units during this period.

Kia Carens Sales Performance and Milestones

The Kia Carens is the third-highest-selling Kia model in India, following the Seltos mid-size SUV with 6,46,902 units and the Sonet compact SUV with 5,47,252 units. The Carens accounts for 26 percent of Kia India's total cumulative utility vehicle sales, which stand at 11,60,078 units.

The Carens achieved its first 1 lakh sales in just over 16 months after launch. It took 36 months to reach the 2 lakh mark. The final 1 lakh units sold over 16 months, supported by the launch of the Clavis and Clavis EV.

In FY22, the Carens sold over 12,000 units. Sales surged in FY23, reaching 70,314 units and recording a year-on-year growth of 454 percent. FY24 saw a 10 percent decline in sales, but FY25 experienced a slight recovery. The introduction of the Clavis and Clavis EV led to the Carens achieving its highest fiscal sales in FY26, with over 79,000 units sold.

Market Position and Model Updates

In FY26, the Carens ranked as the third-highest-selling MPV in India. It trailed behind the Maruti Ertiga, which sold 1,98,327 units, and Toyota Crysta and Hycross models, which together sold 1,12,163 units. FY24 marked the highest export numbers for the Carens.

The Carens was initially introduced to compete with the Maruti Ertiga and the Maruti XL6. It offered various powertrain options, a comprehensive equipment list, and both 6- and 7-seater configurations. In 2025, Kia launched an updated Carens with the Clavis suffix. This version retained the existing powertrains, received more premium styling, and added features.

July 2025 saw the debut of the Carens Clavis EV, Kia's first mass-market electric vehicle. Despite the Clavis launch, Kia continued to sell both MPVs. The Clavis is positioned as the more premium offering, while the Carens targets budget-conscious and fleet buyers with fewer features.

In October 2025, the Carens became the first Kia model in India to offer a CNG powertrain. The Carens is priced between Rs 11.02 lakh and Rs 12.88 lakh. The Carens Clavis ranges from Rs 11.22 lakh to Rs 21.58 lakh, while the Carens Clavis EV is priced from Rs 11.14 lakh to Rs 25 lakh.
