Mahindra Group has appointed Vimal Agarwal as its new Group Chief Internal Auditor, effective July 1, 2026. This follows the retirement of K N Vaidyanathan, who will step down on June 30, 2026, after a 40-year career, including over 14 years with Mahindra. Agarwal will also join the conglomerate's senior management personnel, highlighting the importance of the internal audit function within the group.

​K. N. Vaidyanathan served as Executive Vice President and Group Chief Internal Auditor. His departure marks the end of a significant period at Mahindra, one of India's largest diversified conglomerates. The transition is structured and planned, with Agarwal being promoted from within the group. He currently holds the position of Chief Financial Officer at Mahindra Holidays & Resorts India Ltd.

By selecting an internal candidate, Mahindra aims to ensure continuity and leverage Agarwal's familiarity with the group's operations, governance, and culture. Agarwal's experience within the Mahindra ecosystem is expected to ease the transition into his new cross-functional role.

Chairman Anand G. Mahindra thanked Vaidyanathan for his service and wished him well in retirement. He also expressed confidence in Agarwal, citing his 25 years of experience in finance, governance, and business strategy.

Agarwal’s Professional Background

Vimal Agarwal previously served as chief financial officer at Mahindra Lifespaces. There, he managed fundraising, digitalization, and private equity joint ventures. He worked with business leaders to expand sales and helped increase the company's market capitalization.

For the past two years, Agarwal has been CFO at Mahindra Holidays & Resorts India Ltd. His responsibilities included financial planning, investor relations, and performance optimization. These roles have prepared him for the broad scope of the Group Chief Internal Auditor position.
