Mahindra Vision S Test Mule Spied: What to Expect from the Upcoming SUV
Mahindra’s upcoming Vision S has been spotted testing, revealing a boxy design, modern features and capable underpinnings, hinting at a versatile SUV aimed at both urban and adventure-focused buyers.

Mahindra & Mahindra is picking up pace with the launch of its SUV lineup. Back in August last year, the brand showcased multiple concept cars, which include the Vision S, Vision T, Vision X and Vision SXT, from which the Vision S is expected to break cover first. A fully camouflaged test mule of the Vision S has been spied testing on roads, hinting that the launch is near. The recent spy-shot images reveal several details; let’s take a closer look at the Vision S.

Vision S Design and Exterior Highlights

The test mule of the Vision S features a squared-off stance, boxy design and a flat bonnet, giving it a rugged and muscular appearance. At the front, it has round headlamps paired with a vertical slat-style grille, familiar from the Thar Roxx. Further, the lighting setup appears to house LED daytime running lights within the headlamp units. The Vision S is also expected to come equipped with ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Technologies), as a radar sensor is positioned on the lower grille. Moreover, at the lower section of the front bumper, the fog lamp placement is visible, though it is heavily camouflaged; it is speculated to have a typical SUV-shaped housing.

From the side, the test mule features diamond-cut alloy wheels, angular flared wheel arches, flush-type door handles, rear quarter glass, flat door panels and a flat roof. Along with that, it stands out with its high ground clearance, hinting that it is likely to have larger wheels, high-profile tyres and a long-travel suspension setup. At the rear, it features vertically stacked tail lamps, a flat rear windscreen and a tailgate-mounted spare wheel, which adds to its rugged and tough character, while the clean and simple bumper design keeps things balanced.
Interior, Features and Powertrain

The latest spy shots do not offer a clear view of the cabin; however, earlier spy images give a fair idea of the interior layout. Inside, it is expected to get a dual 12.3-inch screen setup, a panoramic sunroof, a modern dashboard layout and a three-spoke steering wheel with dual-tone finishing. Additionally, the SUV is expected to offer a wide range of features such as traction control, hill descent control, a differential lock, heated seats and a multi-terrain drive mode selector. Moreover, it is likely to get dual-zone climate control and soft-touch materials inside to give it a premium feel.
The engine specifications for the SUV have not yet been revealed by the brand. The Vision S is said to be offered with a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol and a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine, launching first in its ICE avatar. Noticing current trends, Mahindra could also introduce hybrid and EV options for the Vision S at a later stage.
Competition and Expected Price
Once launched, the Vision S is expected to compete with the recently launched Tata Sierra. The SUV carries a boxy profile with an enhanced cabin and promises more than what a typical mid-size SUV offers. If priced right, it could be a considerable choice in the segment. As for pricing, it has not been confirmed yet, but it could come with a starting price of around ₹10.50 lakh (ex-showroom).

Verdict
The upcoming model hints at a clear shift toward a more purpose-driven yet modern SUV approach. Its proportions and hardware suggest serious intent beyond urban use, while the anticipated tech and comfort upgrades indicate broader appeal. If execution and pricing align well, this could strengthen the brand’s position among lifestyle-oriented buyers seeking versatility.
