Mahindra is all set to launch the all-new XEV 9S tomorrow, promising a significant presence in the Indian electric vehicle market. This new 7-seater electric SUV is poised to offer a blend of spacious interiors, advanced technology, and a family-friendly design tailored for Indian road conditions and family needs.
With the XEV 9S, Mahindra enters the family of EV segments with a model that combines SUV ruggedness and premium features, designed to attract families looking for eco-friendly yet practical transportation. The launch event will reveal complete specifications and pricing, expected to make waves in the EV SUV segment. Let’s check out what we can expect from the upcoming Mahindra XEV 9S.
Spacious & Rugged Design

The XEV 9S is positioned as India’s first mass-market three-row electric SUV, emphasizing space and comfort. It features a sliding and reclining second-row seat and a flat floor to ease access to the third row, ensuring a comfortable ride for up to seven passengers. The interiors are highlighted by ventilated leatherette seats, multi-zone climate control, and lounge-like soft-touch materials, reinforcing its family-centric appeal.
Mahindra has incorporated advanced technology like a triple-screen dashboard setup, a panoramic sunroof, and a premium Harman Kardon sound system. These upgrades ensure the XEV 9S stands apart from its combustion-engined sibling, the XUV 700, presenting itself as a tech-forward and stylish option for EV buyers.
Mahindra XEV 9S: Engine Specifications

The XEV 9S shares its powertrain architecture with the Mahindra XEV 9e and BE 6 models. It is expected to come with two battery options—a 59 kWh pack and a larger 79 kWh pack, paired with rear-wheel-drive motors. Power output is estimated between 231 HP and 286 HP, delivering 380 Nm of torque, which provides a balanced mix of performance and efficiency.
Range is one of the highlights, with the XEV 9S projected to offer approximately 542 km to 656 km, suitable for both urban use and long highway trips. Higher variants may support ultra-fast DC charging, reducing downtime and increasing convenience for long-distance travel.
Premium Features and Safety

Mahindra has equipped the XEV 9S with up to seven airbags, electronic stability control, and advanced driver-assistance systems (Level 2 ADAS), including autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keep assist. Safety features also include a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

Pricing and Market Positioning
The XEV 9S is expected to be priced between Rs 21 lakh and Rs 35 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning it above the XEV 9e but below premium electric SUVs priced above Rs 50 lakh. This pricing strategy sets the stage for the XEV 9S to compete with existing electric 7-seaters like the Kia Carens Clavis EV and the upcoming Tata Safari EV, giving buyers a compelling SUV alternative with seven seats and advanced electric technology.
Conclusion
As the Mahindra XEV 9S prepares for its highly anticipated launch tomorrow, EV enthusiasts and family SUV seekers alike have much to look forward to. This groundbreaking electric SUV promises to redefine space, style, and technology for Indian families. Stay tuned for tomorrow’s unveiling, where Mahindra will set a new benchmark in electric mobility with the XEV 9S.
