The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara is priced between Rs 10.99 lakh and Rs 14.29 lakh, with an additional battery rental fee for those opting for the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model. In comparison, the MG Windsor EV is available at a lower price range, from Rs 9.99 lakh to Rs 13.39 lakh, also with a battery rental fee. The Windsor undercuts the Vitara by nearly Rs 2 lakh at the entry-level and by Rs 1.5 lakh at the top end, making it a more affordable option for many buyers.

Both vehicles offer the BaaS model, allowing customers to purchase the car without the battery and pay a rental fee instead. For the e Vitara, the battery rental fee can be up to Rs 4.39 per km, while the Windsor EV's fee is slightly higher at up to Rs 4.5 per km. This rental scheme is designed to lower the initial purchase cost and make electric vehicles more accessible to a broader audience.

In terms of size, the e Vitara is 50 mm narrower and 37 mm shorter than the MG Windsor EV, although both vehicles share the same wheelbase. This suggests that the Windsor EV may offer a slightly more spacious interior, which could be a deciding factor for families or those prioritizing cabin comfort.

The e Vitara is available in 10 exterior paint options, including four dual-tone choices. Notably, one of the dual-tone options features a unique Land Breeze Green with a Bluish Black roof. The MG Windsor EV, on the other hand, generally does not offer dual-tone options except for its special Inspire Edition, which comes with a white and black dual-tone exterior and additional cosmetic enhancements. The e Vitara's color options were first showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo in early 2025, highlighting Maruti Suzuki's focus on personalization and style.

Both vehicles are equipped with a range of comfort and convenience features. The e Vitara includes a leather-wrapped 2-spoke steering wheel with tilt and telescopic adjustment, a 10-way power-adjustable driver seat, adjustable headrests for all seats, and auto up/down power windows for all doors. Other amenities include front and rear center armrests, multiple USB charging ports (Type-A and Type-C), automatic climate control with rear AC vents, and electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs with an auto-fold function.

On the technology front, the e Vitara is equipped with a 10.25-inch digital driver's display and a 10-speaker sound system, including a subwoofer and amplifier. The MG Windsor EV offers a larger 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a powered tailgate, and hill-descent control. Both vehicles support wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, steering-mounted audio and calling controls, and advanced safety features such as electronic stability control (ESC), a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), a 360-degree camera, and Level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

Performance, Charging, and Range

The e Vitara's electric powertrain is more powerful compared to the MG Windsor EV, although the Windsor EV delivers higher torque. In terms of range, the e Vitara offers a higher claimed figure, exceeding 500 km on a single charge, which is a significant advantage for long-distance travel.

Charging capabilities also differ between the two models. The e Vitara supports a 3.3 kW AC charger and a 15A portable charger. It can charge from 10% to 100% in 13.5 hours using AC charging, while DC fast charging allows for a 10% to 80% charge in just 45 minutes with a 70 kW unit. The MG Windsor EV, depending on the battery size, can charge from 10% to 100% in 6.5 to 9 hours via AC charging and from 20% to 80% in 45 to 50 minutes using DC fast charging at 45 kW or 60 kW.

Market Position

Maruti Suzuki's entry into the electric vehicle market with the e Vitara brings a strong contender to the segment, offering a robust feature set, advanced safety technologies, and a competitive driving range. While the e Vitara may have some drawbacks, such as slightly less interior space and the absence of an all-wheel-drive option, it benefits from the brand's reputation and a comprehensive list of features.

Conclusion

The MG Windsor EV, as the best-selling electric vehicle of 2025, continues to appeal to buyers with its spacious interior, extensive feature list, and proven market performance. However, it faces challenges in terms of real-world range and a heavy reliance on cabin technology. Ultimately, both vehicles present compelling options for consumers seeking an electric SUV, with the final choice likely depending on individual preferences for price, features, and driving range.
