Women in Manufacturing Roles

The new women recruits work in assembly and quality control positions. They receive the same on-the-job training and skill development as male employees. Managing Director and CEO Hisashi Takeuchi highlighted the importance of women working on the shopfloor. He noted that women have always been represented in functions such as engineering, marketing & sales, finance, legal, logistics, and supply chain. However, he emphasized that true integration happens when women participate directly in manufacturing processes.

Infrastructure and Support Initiatives

To support women employees, Maruti Suzuki made several infrastructure changes at its plants. These include new restrooms, changing areas, and creche facilities. The company also increased security by deploying guards and organizing evening shift patrols. These steps aim to ensure convenience and safety for women on the shopfloor.

Maruti Suzuki also introduced sensitization training for all team members. The company mandates 100% employee participation in POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) training. These initiatives are designed to build a positive and inclusive work culture. The company conducted a detailed study to understand the specific needs of women employees and implemented changes accordingly.
