Mercedes-Benz has launched the E53 AMG in India, priced at Rs 1.45 crore (ex-showroom). This new model is the fastest E-Class available in the country. It features a 3-litre six-cylinder turbo-petrol engine paired with a plug-in hybrid system. The E53 AMG offers both high performance and improved efficiency, including a pure electric driving mode.
Key Highlights
- Mercedes-Benz E53 AMG launched at Rs 1.45 crore ex-showroom in India.
- 3-litre six-cylinder turbo-petrol engine with plug-in hybrid delivers 612 PS and a 3.8-second 0-100 km/h time.
- Pure EV mode offers 101 km of range and 60 kW DC fast charging, which charges the battery to 80 percent in 20 minutes.
- Standard features include all-wheel drive, rear-axle steering and a three-screen dashboard setup.
Key Features and Design

The Mercedes-Benz E53 AMG is offered in two variants: Performance Edition and Racing Edition. Both variants are imported as Completely Built-up Units (CBU). Bookings for the sedan are now open. The E53 AMG retains the familiar E-Class silhouette but adds aggressive styling elements. The front features a larger gloss black illuminated grille with vertical slats, a sporty bumper with air vents, and full LED headlamps.
On the side, the E53 AMG stands out with a standard wheelbase, unlike the long wheelbase offered in the regular E-Class in India. It comes with 20-inch AMG alloy wheels, red brake callipers, and gloss black outside rear-view mirrors.
At the rear, the sedan sports a connected LED taillamp setup with star-shaped detailing, a more aggressive bumper, a gloss black diffuser, quad exhaust tips, and vertical cutouts for improved airflow. A slim black bootlid spoiler completes the look. The dimensions of the E53 AMG are as follows: length 4949 mm, width 1905 mm, height 1471 mm, and wheelbase 2961 mm. The model is available in six exterior colour options.
Interior and Comfort

Inside, the E53 AMG features a three-screen setup across the dashboard. This includes a digital driver’s display, a touchscreen infotainment system, and a passenger entertainment display. The sedan uses the latest five-spoke steering wheel with a flat-bottom design and touch-based haptic feedback buttons, similar to the new S-Class.
The cabin is finished with leather and carbon-fibre trims, giving it a sporty and premium feel. The front seats are more supportive than those in the standard E-Class, offering tight bolstering for better cornering support. These seats also provide power adjustment, heating, and massage functions. The rear bench is less spacious due to the shorter wheelbase but still offers power adjustment, rear sunshades, and a dedicated climate zone. Buyers can personalise the interior with multiple themes and materials.
Performance and Technology
The E53 AMG uses a 3-litre six-cylinder turbo-petrol engine with plug-in hybrid technology, mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. This setup delivers 612 PS of power. The sedan accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds. It also features a pure EV mode with a claimed electric range of 101 km on a full charge. The E53 AMG supports 60 kW DC fast charging, which charges the battery from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in 20 minutes.
An all-wheel drive system is standard, along with rear-axle steering to enhance agility. The E53 AMG currently has no direct rivals in India. However, alternatives in the price range include the BMW M5, Porsche Taycan, and Mercedes-AMG C63 S E Performance.
