MG Motor India has recently launched a special edition of its electric hatchback, the Comet EV, called the Gamer Edition. This exclusive variant is geared towards capturing the attention of young, gaming enthusiasts, and tech-savvy buyers. Collaborating with one of India's most popular gamers, Naman Mathur, better known as Mortal, MG has infused the Comet EV Gamer Edition with a distinctive gaming-inspired design, both inside and out.
Cosmetic and Interior Upgrades for a Gaming Vibe
The Comet EV Gamer Edition, available as an add-on to the existing Pace, Play, and Plush variants, is priced at an additional Rs. 64,999. Embracing the gaming theme, the car boasts special accents on the wheels, doors, fog lamps, and B-pillars, along with eye-catching body graphics and decals. The dual-tone paint option of black and neon purple enhances the unique gamer aesthetics, complete with the word "Gamer" on the bonnet and a large Comet logo on the roof.

Inside the car, MG has transformed the interior into a funky gamer paradise. Neon seat covers, steering wheel cover, dashboard and door inserts, and carpet mats all add to the gaming-inspired ambience. To top it off, Mortal's signature logo can be spotted throughout the interior. The infotainment screen even greets the driver with a special "Welcome to the Gamer Edition" message.
Unchanged Powertrain Performance
While the Gamer Edition impresses with its gaming-themed features, the mechanical specifications remain unchanged. Utilizing the same 17.3 kWh battery pack, the Comet EV Gamer Edition offers a claimed range of 230 km on a single charge. The electric motor continues to generate 41 bhp and 76 Nm of peak torque, paired with an automatic transmission.
Safety and Convenience Features
The Comet EV Gamer Edition includes a comprehensive range of safety features, such as overspeed warning, emergency brake light flashing, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, high-beam assist, blind spot detection, airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system, child seat anchor points, and seat belt warning.
Positioning in the Electric Vehicle Segment
Launched in April 2023, the Comet EV stands as one of India's compact passenger electric vehicles. Competing with electric cars like Tata Tiago EV and Citroen E-C3 in its segment, the regular Comet EV variants are priced between Rs. 7.98 lakh and Rs. 9.98 lakh (ex-showroom).
Catering to the Demands of Young Urban Customers
The Comet EV Gamer Edition is strategically targeted towards young urban customers who are passionate about gaming and technology and are also inclined towards electric vehicles. MG Motor India actively promotes its electric offerings in the country and plans to introduce more EVs by 2028. The carmaker has also established partnerships with various charging infrastructure providers to ensure convenient and accessible charging solutions for its customers.
