MG unveils 2026 MG4 hatchback, confirms MG 4X electric SUV global debut

2026 MG4 Hatchback Updates

The 2026 MG4 hatchback now comes in six variants. MG introduced new exterior paint options, a black floating roof, and 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels. The vehicle uses a semi-solid battery, cell-to-body integration, and an integrated thermal management system for improved efficiency and safety.

Inside the cabin, the MG4 features an 8-inch driver instrument display and a 15.6-inch high-definition central touchscreen. The system supports wireless CarPlay. The front seats offer heating, ventilation, massage, and memory functions, enhancing comfort for occupants.

MG has upgraded the hatchback's intelligent driver assistance systems. The new system can handle complex parking scenarios, including nose-in and dead-end parking, to improve convenience and safety for drivers.

New Models and Technology Partnerships

Alongside the MG4 hatchback, MG revealed the MG 07, a flagship coupe. The MG 07 will be available in both pure electric and plug-in hybrid configurations. To enhance the MG 07's capabilities, MG has partnered with autonomous driving technology company Momenta.

The MG 07 will use the Momenta R7 solution and the XHEART X7 chip. This technology will provide urban Navigate on Autopilot features and enable a parking-space-to-parking-space driving experience.

MG also confirmed the upcoming global debut of the MG 4X electric SUV in May. The entry-level MG 4X will feature rear-wheel drive, a five-link independent suspension, and a semi-solid battery as standard equipment.

Other industry updates include Ashok Leyland opening its seventh light commercial vehicle dealership in Odisha, located in Rourkela. A Noida-based powertrain company has secured patents for a reluctance motor design and a fault-tolerant five-phase motor.
