The new i20 will feature significant updates inside and out. One of the main changes is a curved dual-screen setup. This setup could include 12.3-inch infotainment and instrument displays. The current i20 in India offers a 10.25-inch touchscreen on top variants and an 8-inch touchscreen on mid-spec versions.
Interior and Technology Upgrades

The steering wheel design has changed and may feature four dots in the center, symbolizing the letter ‘H’ in Morse code. The dashboard has also been refreshed, though detailed changes are not yet clear. The new i20 could introduce a fresh interior theme and updated upholstery. These updates resemble those found in the latest Hyundai Venue.
The upcoming Verna facelift will also receive similar cockpit enhancements, as seen in recent test vehicles. These changes aim to provide a more premium and clutter-free cabin, a feature already present in the new Venue.
Safety and Exterior Enhancements

Hyundai may improve safety in the new 2026 Hyundai i20 with features like a 360° surround view camera and a Level 2 ADAS package. The current i20 already offers six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), hill start assist control (HAC), vehicle stability management (VSM), rear parking sensors, a rear camera with dynamic guidelines, a dashcam, and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
The new i20 is expected to have a more angular, boxy, and crossover-inspired design. Exterior updates will align with Hyundai’s latest design language. The car could feature a full-width LED bar at the front, sharper headlamps, and top-mounted LED DRLs. The new grille appears rectangular with slatted elements, replacing the current cascading design. The air dam also seems updated.
The side profile may get new alloy wheels and a redesigned rear quarter window. At the rear, the new i20 could feature connected tail lamps and a more muscular bumper.

Powertrain Options and Market Variants
Internationally, the new i20 may offer a hybrid powertrain. In India, it is likely to retain the current 1.2-litre petrol engine. This engine produces 83 PS with a 5-speed manual and 88 PS with the iVT transmission, delivering 114.7 Nm of torque. The i20 N Line variant uses a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine, generating 120 PS and 172 Nm of torque. It comes with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT transmission.
Conclusion
The new-generation Hyundai i20 appears set to elevate the hatchback’s appeal with its modern interior design and advanced technology. The inclusion of a curved screen and redesigned dashboard signals Hyundai’s commitment to offering a more premium and connected driving experience. More details are expected soon as Hyundai moves closer to unveiling the refreshed i20 in India.
