Upcoming Hyundai Models in 2026

1. Hyundai Exter Facelift

The Hyundai Exter, launched in 2023, has contributed significantly to Hyundai’s SUV sales in India. The Exter is known for its compact size, spacious interior, and multiple powertrain options. Hyundai plans to launch a facelifted Exter in late March 2026, with an expected price between Rs 6 lakh and Rs 10 lakh. The updated model will feature cosmetic changes such as a redesigned grille, tweaked front and rear bumpers, new alloy wheels, and revised tail lights. Interior updates may include a new dashboard layout, improved seat upholstery, and added features. The Exter will continue to offer petrol and CNG powertrains with manual and AMT automatic transmissions.

2. Hyundai Bayon-Based Crossover

Hyundai is considering the introduction of a Bayon-based compact crossover SUV in India. The Bayon, which measures nearly 4.2 metres, is currently sold in international markets. In India, it will likely be positioned between the Exter and the Venue. The vehicle has been seen overseas with all-LED lighting and stylish alloy wheels. Expected features include a premium cabin with leatherette upholstery, dual digital displays, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera, automatic climate control, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). The Bayon-based model is expected to use the same 1-litre turbo petrol engine and transmission options as the i20 N Line, offering both a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. The expected price range is Rs 9 lakh to Rs 15 lakh.

3. Hyundai Inster-Based Micro EV

Hyundai may introduce a micro electric vehicle (EV) based on the Inster. This model could compete with the Tata Punch EV and Citroen eC3. Hyundai has announced plans for a small EV in India, and the Inster-based model could feature a bold exterior and a modern, minimalistic cabin with dual screens. It may offer two battery pack options, with a maximum range of over 300 km. The expected price is between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 13 lakh.

4. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Facelift

The Hyundai Ioniq 5, available in India since 2023, will receive a facelift in 2026. The updated model will feature minor changes to the front and rear bumpers, new alloy wheels, and a revised centre console. Key features include dual 12.3-inch displays, ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, six airbags, a 360-degree camera, and ADAS. The facelifted Ioniq 5 is likely to come with a larger 84 kWh battery, a 228 PS single-motor rear-wheel-drive setup, and a claimed range of up to 700 km (WLTP). The expected price is Rs 48 lakh to Rs 52 lakh.

Hyundai’s Strategy for 2026

Hyundai’s 2026 strategy involves updating successful models and introducing new vehicles to strengthen its position in India. The company aims to cater to a wide range of customers by offering both internal combustion and electric vehicles across various price segments. All prices mentioned are ex-showroom, pan-India.
