New Mahindra Thar Facelift Set to Launch in 2026; Here is What to Expect
The new Mahindra Thar is expected to make its debut in 2026. However, the model details have not been revealed by the company. Codenamed W515, the 2026 Mahindra Thar facelift is expected to borrow design cues from Thar Roxx.
The new generation Mahindra Thar was launched in 2020 with a similar design profile and performance. The off-road SUV quickly received record bookings for over 185,000 units by August 2024 and hit the 2,00,000 units sales milestone by early 2025. Its impressive off-road capabilities, rugged body build, and commanding on-road presence have worked to attract Indian consumers. However, the name of the 3-door Mahindra Thar slightly dropped when the 5-door Mahindra Thar Roxx launched in India. Mahindra is gearing up to offer a major midlife update to its Thar 3-door SUV to revive sales.

What to Expect from the New Mahindra Thar Facelift?
The new Mahindra Thar is expected to make its debut in 2026. However, the model details have not been revealed by the company. Codenamed W515, the 2026 Mahindra Thar facelift is expected to borrow design cues from Thar Roxx. It would feature a refreshed grille and double-stacked slats, updated front and rear bumpers, C-shaped LED signature headlamps, and bigger body cladding. The off-road Mahindra SUV can also feature newly designed alloy wheels and an updated tailgate.
There could also be major changes in the interior of the new Thar, borrowing some features from its 5-door sibling. The new generation Thar may have a fully digital instrument culture, while the top-spec variants get a sunroof. It also features an updated steering wheel, repositioned physical buttons, a wireless phone charger, and ventilated front seats. It's expected that Mahindra can offer a 360-degree camera and Level 2 ADAS suite in its updated 3-door Thar. The SUV would also receive 6 airbags as standard.
The 2026 Mahindra Thar facelift will feature a 2.0L petrol engine (152 bhp), a 1.5L turbo diesel engine (119 bhp), and a 2.2L turbo diesel engine (132 bhp) in the 3-door variant. These engine units will be paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard, with an optional 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
