New Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB Set for India Launch on October 9
Mercedes-Benz India to launch the new V214 E-Class LWB on October 9, offering improved tech, comfort, and two engine options.
Mercedes-Benz India is set to unveil the new V214 E-Class Long Wheelbase (LWB) on October 9, with deliveries scheduled to start before Diwali. This latest version of the E-Class LWB, which competes with the BMW 5-Series LWB, promises enhanced technology and comfort features. The pricing is expected to start at approximately Rs. 82 lakh for the petrol variant, positioning it about Rs. 10 lakh higher than its LWB BMW counterpart.
The upcoming E-Class LWB gets several improvements over its 2017 predecessor:
- Increased dimensions: 13mm taller, 14mm longer, with a 15mm longer wheelbase
- Redesigned exterior inspired by Mercedes EQ models
- Advanced interior featuring the Mercedes Superscreen layout
The exterior design of the new E-Class LWB draws inspiration from modern Mercedes EQ models, featuring a prominent chrome grille with an oversized 3D logo surrounded by smaller three-pointed stars. The profile showcases S-Class-inspired flush door handles and 18-inch wheels, while the rear sports new LED taillamps with a distinctive tri-arrow pattern. Chrome accents grace the front and rear bumpers along with the sides, adding a touch of elegance.
Inside, the Mercedes Superscreen layout takes center stage, comprising a 14.4-inch central touchscreen and a 12.3-inch passenger touchscreen, complementing the digital instrument cluster. A 4D surround sound system by Burmester enhances the audio experience.
The interior will be available in three color options, all featuring a black dashboard. While the front seats lack ventilation, the driver's seat includes a memory function. The backseat experience remains a priority, with the backrest reclining between 26 and 36 degrees, slightly more than the previous model.
At launch, two four-cylinder engine options will be available:
- 2.0-liter turbo-petrol producing 204hp
- 2.0-liter turbo-diesel generating 197hp
Both engines incorporate 48V mild hybrid systems, providing an additional 23hp and 205Nm of torque. A 9-speed torque converter automatic gearbox is standard for both powertrains.
The new Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB aspires to build upon its predecessor's success by offering advanced technology, refined comfort, and improved performance.
