The ninth-generation Camry (XV80) will be introduced by Toyota India on December 11. This model, which debuted globally in late 2023, is expected to include improved features, a new design, and a petrol-hybrid drivetrain that is comparable to the previous generation. This new Camry will replace the existing model, which was introduced in 2019 and upgraded in 2022.
Exterior Design of the New Toyota Camry
The design of the new Camry incorporates contemporary elements while preserving the spirit of its predecessors. The new Camry has evolutionary style and is built on the well-known TNGA-K modular platform, which is used by other Toyota and Lexus models:
- Sleek and Contemporary Style: The front chin's characteristic anvil form gives the redesigned design a more Lexus-inspired appearance.
- Small Headlight Pods: Featuring LED Daytime Running Lights for a modern look.
- Defined Side Profile: A dynamic flare is added by the revised "C"-shaped taillights at the back and new character lines.
Powertrain and Performance
The new Camry will be powered by:
- 2.5-Litre Engine: A four-cylinder engine paired with dual electric motors producing a combined output of 227hp.
- eCVT Gearbox: Ensuring seamless transmission for the hybrid setup.
- Improved Efficiency: Claimed fuel efficiency of approximately 25 kmpl, an improvement from the current model's 19.1 kmpl.
Interior and Added Features
The interior of the new Camry features significant updates to enhance comfort and technology:
- The dashboard arrangement has been updated to include two digital screens: a 12.3-inch floating touchscreen for infotainment and a 7-inch digital instrument display.
- Premium Tech Additions: A digital key, heads-up display, JBL sound system, and other amenities are anticipated.
- Chauffeur-friendly Comfort: India's chauffeur-driven market is catered to with features like rear seat ventilation, reclining capabilities, and blind controls built into the seats.
- Safety features include a pre-collision braking system, lane departure alert with steering assistance, dynamic radar cruise control with curve speed reduction, and Toyota Safety Sense ADAS.
Assembly and Availability
Toyota will use foreign kits to construct the new Camry at its Bidadi facility in Karnataka. Delivery is anticipated to start in early 2025, however costs will be disclosed on December 11. During the January Bharat Mobility Show, enthusiasts may also see the new Camry at Toyota's booth.
