Nissan Tekton SUV Spotted Testing
Nissan is developing the Tekton SUV for the 4.2m to 4.5m segment. The vehicle shares its platform with the new-generation Renault Duster. Recent spy shots from Pimpri near Pune show the Tekton’s exterior and road presence. Automotive enthusiast Nilabjya Choudhury captured these images. The test vehicle, covered in camouflage, is likely undergoing ARAI homologation before its official launch.

The Tekton appears taller than the Maruti Baleno seen alongside it. Its dimensions are expected to match the new Duster, which measures 4,345 mm in length, 1,815 mm in width, 1,703 mm in height, and has a 2,657 mm wheelbase. The test mule features steel wheels, suggesting it is a base variant. It lacks a sunroof and rear wiper, but includes squared wheel arches, C-pillar mounted rear door handles, and a curvy roofline.
Key Exterior and Interior Features

At the rear, the Tekton has a roof-mounted spoiler, a raked windshield, connected C-shaped taillamps, and a prominent bumper. The front fascia is not visible in the latest images, but the Tekton is known to have top-mounted LED DRLs and a full-width LED bar. Other features include sharp LED headlamps, a rectangular grille, twin chrome bars with the Nissan logo, and bumper corner protectors. The bonnet is sculpted, and the TEKTON 3D badging is displayed in large letters.
Inside, the Tekton will have a unique dashboard, upholstery, and interior theme, though it will share several parts with the new Duster. Top variants may offer a dual-screen setup for infotainment and the instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, front ventilated seats, an air filter with AQI display, automatic dual-zone air conditioning, and wireless smartphone charging. A comprehensive ADAS suite will enhance safety.
Engine and Powertrain Options
The Nissan Tekton will share its engine lineup with the new Duster. The base variant is expected to use a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine producing 100 PS and 160 Nm of torque, paired with a manual transmission. This engine is designed for both city and highway use.
Higher variants will offer a 1.3-litre turbo petrol TCe 160 engine, generating 163 PS and 280 Nm of torque. This makes it the most powerful in its class. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed DCT. A strong hybrid E-Tech 160 powertrain, using a 1.8-litre petrol engine and a 1.4 kWh battery pack, will be introduced later.
