Land Rover India has announced significant price reductions for its imported Range Rover SV and Range Rover Sport SV models. The latest price cut, up to Rs 75 lakh, follows the signing of the India-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA) in July 2025. This agreement allows a quota of 20,000 completely built-up (CBU) vehicles to be imported annually at a reduced duty rate.
Key Highlights
- Range Rover SV price reduced by Rs 75 lakh to Rs 3.5 crore ex showroom
- Range Rover Sport SV price cut by Rs 40 lakh to Rs 2.35 crore ex showroom
- Price cuts follow India UK FTA reducing import duties on UK made vehicles
- Locally manufactured Land Rover models retain current pricing
- Defender and Discovery prices unchanged as they are made in Slovakia
Major Price Reductions for Imported Models
In May 2026, Land Rover India implemented its second major price cut for the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport within a year. The first reduction occurred in September 2025 after GST 2.0 reforms, which lowered prices by up to Rs 30.4 lakh. The current price adjustment is directly linked to the India-UK FTA, which reduces import duties on UK-made vehicles from 110% to 30%. This rate will further drop to 10% by the fifth year of the agreement.
The Range Rover SV, equipped with a 4.4L V8 petrol engine, now has a sticker price of Rs 3.5 crore, down from Rs 4.25 crore. This marks a reduction of Rs 75 lakh, or 17.7%. The Range Rover Sport SV Edition 2, also with the 4.4L V8 petrol engine, now costs Rs 2.35 crore, down from Rs 2.75 crore. This represents a Rs 40 lakh, or 15%, decrease. All prices are ex-showroom.
Impact on Other Land Rover Models
Locally manufactured Land Rover vehicles, including the Discovery Sport, Range Rover Evoque, Range Rover Velar, standard Range Rover Sport, and standard full-size Range Rover, have not seen any price changes. These models do not benefit from the India-UK FTA as they are produced in India.
Buyers interested in the Land Rover Defender will not see immediate price reductions. The Defender is manufactured in Slovakia and is not covered by the India-UK FTA. The same applies to the Discovery model. However, future price cuts may occur if an India-EU FTA is signed, as Slovakia is an EU member. Land Rover India is also considering local assembly for the Defender lineup due to its popularity, which could lower prices and increase sales.
The India-UK FTA is expected to make imported luxury SUVs more accessible to Indian buyers. The reduced duties on CBU vehicles are likely to impact the premium SUV market in the coming years.
